H seems to be a bit on the yellower side of the scale.

DEF GHI
IF VVS VS SI I

Doesnt make sense to me to get a H VVS, a H VS or a F VVS or a F VS!
Mentally, maybe not. But for me, it's a lot more what they look like than what their supposed "stats" are.

I personally wouldn't buy over a G, because that's what I have and it's white white white to my eye--even next to Ds and Es. So the price increase is not worth it to me to have higher color grade. As far as clarity, as long as it's eye clean and not interfering with the light return, it's flawless in my mind.

There's a great debate between "eye clean" and "mind clean," though.

I agree with the G. a G SI is what i am after as for value. VS is the highest i would go.

I've been in jewellers & the assistant has suggested a cheaper ring as the difference isn't worrth the extra £, maybe the .10ct isn't massively noticable between the two rings & you'd be better off keeping the extra £££ in your pocket.
When you see you them you will know :)

Okay everyone I have an update

It's kind of odd actually. The first thing our SA told us when we got there was that the two larger Hs with lower clarity that she had brought in hadn't been cleaned when she told us there was a color difference (compared to the 1.34 H with higher clarity). She said that after she cleaned them there was no difference between any of the Hs. WTF?? It seems odd that she wouldn't have cleaned them when comparing them and recommending we go ahead with a specific purchase..hmm...

Anyway, when we examined the stones in various lighting none of us could detect any difference in color or clarity in all three H rings. We compared to a G which was smaller but the difference was very subtle (to our eyes) and only noticable from the side when compared side by side. Just wearing a G versus an H (when not side by side) didn't really look/feel different to me. More importantly it was not really in the price range we could afford unless we went down quite a bit in size. From reading all your helpful comments, it sounds like some are more color sensitive than others. For me, i do see a distinct difference when I compare it to something in the colorless range (to a D or E particularly) or lower (the I stones I've seen were definately more yellow to my eyes) but this is likely a personal thing.

So, what decision did we make???? Well we narrowed it down to the H 1.34 vvs2 and the H 1.44 vs2. None of us (inluding the SA) could see any quality difference (in color, brilliance etc) between the stones. So it came down to size. The larger ring wasn't much more (500 US) so I went for the bigger stone:shame: Oh, and like you all said, it was the first ring that cought my eye and there really wasn't any doubt!

Thank you all for your helpful advice! I will try to post pics in a few weeks when we pick it up!!!
