engagement ring setting: keep it simple or bling it out?

i think it's gorgeous as is, but i think it would be even more stunning with the blingy setting AND the eternity band! you can always have it reset in the plain setting if you get tired of it one day or the styles change, but i really dont think you can go wrong with extra bling. My band is micropave on the top and sides and my favorite thing is looking down at my hand when its just hanging down and see all the sparkle from the side!

Congrats on your enagement! Your ring is beautiful.

As for your setting, I do love the mirco pave, but preferably single pave band instead of two split bands in the pic. If you do single not a split, your ring look elegant and delicate and the center stone will show more and that would look good w/ the eternity band for wedding ring.

Or another option is to keep it simple solitaire like the way it is and just have enternal band for your wedding ring, and wear it for awhile. Then reset the e-ring on your 1st or 2nd aniversary. That is what I did. I wear the way it was then my first yr aniversary and reset my to halo mirco pave in platinum.

Good luck!

I personally love it on a plain band. It is SO elegant. The pave split shank would bling it up, but in my opinion, it would actually end up complicating and confusing the look, detracting from the beauty of the stone. It appears to be a very large diamond....it needs no other accompaniment! Emerald cuts, especially, look best in an uncomplicated setting because of its clean lines.

After you're married, I can totally see your ring as a solitaire with either a matching plain platinum band (very classy look), or if you want to bling it up, I'd do it with a thin and understated pave wedding band. Or heck, get both so you can have a choice every day!

CONGRATS ON YOUR ENGAGEMENT!

I like the simplistic elegance of a solitaire like you have now.
... and I know this wasn't really what you had in mind but I just love this setting for emerald cuts!!

That is my all time favorite setting no matter what shape stone. Tapered
baguettes just add a little more elegance without taking away from the beauty of the stone itself.

ITA! Tapered baguettes flanking any of the step-cut stones are utterly classic and the ultimate in elegance. Very Harry Winston. They add a subtle glint of sparkle without detracting from the center stone at all. :D
