Hi there!

I know that I'm going to be proposed to :yahoo:... and that my boyfriend wants an engagement ring.

Only thing is, I don't know what type of ring to get - I know that for the wedding they have gold bands but I don't have a clue for something different.

I've scoured the internet and found a few?
Please may you tell me which you like/don't like or give me any advice? ;)

Thank you so much!

That's so exciting. Keep us updated on what happens. Out of all those I personally like the gold one (with the grooves) in upper right hand corner. Does your bf like platinum or gold better? Do you have a price range?

Well up to £1,000 absolute max!
He likes gold, but am stumped besides from the traditional plain band but he can't have two gold bands!
That's why I looked for ones with diamonds and stuff, but am not too sure really!

Do you know of any good men's jewellers?

Thanks :D

I'm note sure how much that converts to in U.S. money, over 1,000 though. I would suggest going to Tiffany. Here is the link to all their wedding bands for men. FH and I are both getting our rings from them. They are my favorite jeweler. http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/CategoryBrowse.aspx?cid=288177&mcat=148208

Back when I got married the dude only got a ring at the wedding, but got another gift at engagement. . .maybe a watch? Why not a great Rolex?

I have no idea about engagement rings for a guy. (nipple ring maybe? Bwahahaha!!!)

LMAO @ nipple ring.. ouchies!!!

If he wants an engagement ring why not get him something he can wear on his right hand after the nuptials?

My SO and I agreed that his engagement gift will be a new guitar :)

Yes, this is bad news if all men start expecting engagement rings.;) It doesn't happen too often where I live, but I do recall a friend's fiance (now husband) wanting one. And like many of you, I thought, why not a watch, or something else? But he wanted a ring to wear on his left hand to show he was "taken"--lol. (She ended up just giving him his wedding ring early).

So, if that is the case, would he like a silver band perhaps (and then upgrade it to the gold for the wedding)? Or, there is a 2mm platinum band edged in rose gold in that Tiffany link. This is very narrow for a man's ring, but perhaps it (or any other thin band) could be stacked with a (wider) yellow gold wedding band later, if he likes that type of look.

Otherwise, I think a watch or a right-hand-ring (if he wears those) are both great engagement gifts for men. Let us know what you decide.:smile1:

i would suggest a necklace, bracelet or watch over a ring, but if he wants a ring then thats what he should get. i would try to get my so a ring that didnt necessarily look like a wedding band that he can wear on his right hand after ur married

i like the look of those grooved rings in the set you posted- they almost look like stacked rings. so maybe it would look nice to get him 1 plain band now, and a 2nd one for the wedding that he could wear with the 1st one.
