He is book smart no doubt add extreme confidence and a bit of quirkiness and you get Elon. He’s likeable. But I dont like him. Will never understand why a ‘visionary billionaire’ wont spend his time energy and money on trying to sort out problems with our planet. It’s like he already gave up on it and looking for a way out (mission Mars etc). Unforgivable in my book.

He made a gigantic pledge to the UN. He reneged and never paid.
All air.
At least he is tall and youngish but having hung with people with IQ over 160, it is strange.
One of them was an electrical engineer major at an IVY and junior year, decided he would go into médecine because working as an engineer was too much work. He graduated on time with high honors and was accepted in his choice school.
He is a well known doctor with patterns and published today.
Pleasant enough to be around but running games on you at all times.
Exhausting actually.
Elon grew up in strange circumstances and avoided his duty toward his country. Not a fan either.
But he entertains to some extent at a juvenile level at 50 years old.

We have wealthy friends and they always ask to stay with us lol
I hate staying with others, but a lot of people prefer it over a hotel. I like that they're comfy at my house!
I like my privacy. I don’t like having too many people around in my space lol. I’d rather stay in hotel and do what I want then stay with someone. But it sounds like you have a welcoming home where your friends feel comfortable!

They were talking about him on the radio last week. He claims the 50,000 home in Texas at spacex as his home address but he’s actually couch surfing and doesn’t have a real home. It was a huge turn off for me, I can’t imagine being friends with someone so rich and they have the audacity to ask me to couch surf for a bit. You’re worth billions stay in a hotel not on my sofa.

I agree with you but I suspect the people whose couches he sleeps on are getting something from him - or hoping to get something.

I know someone who worked with him personally for several years, as in reported directly to him at one of his companies. Says it was a lot of putting out fires from what he left in his wake.

I wouldn't want to be a Twitter employee right about now - although if recruiters at tech companies are smart, they'll be reaching out to Twitter employees for other job opportunities.

The deal is not done yet.
I can see that. Big picture type of personality.

This will all be interesting to watch. From an employee retention perspective, not having equity options to offer as part of an employment package will be a big problem for recruitment and retention. SpaceX has trouble with this. From Tech Crunch: https://techcrunch.com/2022/04/26/twitter-lock-source-code-elon-musk/

Twitter is protecting its source code from disgruntled employees, reports say

Amanda Silberling@asilbwrites / 9:03 AM PDT • April 26, 2022

Twitter locked down its source code to prevent unauthorized changes, sources familiar with the matter told Bloomberg. The reports say that this change was made to prevent employees from “going rogue” and sabotaging the platform after Elon Musk’s $44 billion purchase of the company. Currently, a vice president must approve any changes.

Twitter declined to comment on the matter.

After the company announced it would accept Musk’s offer to buy the publicly traded platform, it wasn’t immediately clear to Twitter’s 7,000 employees how their day-to-day would change. Even after a company all-hands, where CEO Parag Agrawal reassured the team that no layoffs were planned “at this time,” employees were still left with questions about how they would fare in Musk’s takeover.

Twitter’s Director of Machine Learning Ethics, Transparency and Accountability Rumman Chowdhury asked in a tweet, “Elon aside, can anyone explain to me how Twitter will hire/keep employees since there isn’t company stock to create competitive comp packages? A significant part of our pay is in [restricted stock units].”

For now, Musk’s takeover bid for Twitter remains subject to shareholder and regulatory approval. But if it goes through as expected, we may witness major personnel shifts, resignations and more. A similar shake-up took place when Twitter was listed on the New York Stock Exchange for the first time. By the time the company went public, there were already 90 startups being built by former Twitter employees.

Despite his enormous wealth, Musk doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to managing employees. Under his leadership at Tesla, the company has quashed union efforts by warehouse workers, faced racial discrimination lawsuits and dismissed employee concerns about returning to work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
