You're so sweet! I also invited my parents and they loved it as well! I hope you and your mom and her friend enjoy the exhibit! It was truly extraordinary and I'm soo glad I got to see all her beautiful items in person before they go to auction.

No problem! I agree, what do men know??? But I guess we'll do the same with them if Jay Leno's car collection ever goes up for auction. . .haha.

Love the story behind this piece too. I read that the Emperor who built the Taj Mahal gave this to his wife.

Hope the American buyers get out in force & keep her stuff in the US.
There are lots of rumors going around on interest from celebrities.
Elton John, Cher, Celine Dion.
The money goes for a wonderful cause so the organization wins either way.

I saw this exhibit in NYC this week and it was fabulous. I loved reading the descriptions stating when she wore certain things or which pieces were given to her on certain occasions. She was a lucky lady to have Richard Burton, Mike Todd, Michael Jackson, et al shower her with jewels the way that they did! I did not know very much about Elizabeth Taylor before this but she seems to have lived a very interesting life and now I definitely want put one of her biographies on my reading list.

That gorgeous gal certainly had nine lives, of course she's need nine lives to wear that fabulous jewelry!

Everyone should go through the Ecatalogues that are on the Christie's website before the auction this week. Hundreds of pages of her jewelry. It is truly amazing. Make sure to go through all three.

I went yesterday, it was fantastic.

My friend and I both commented on how friendly everyone at the exhibit was to each other. It was very crowded, but I guess we all bonded over the love of jewelry. Plus, the odds were very very slim that any of us would ever be competing over anything for auction!
