OK so BF and I are looking for settings for an ering. :D I know I want something with pave diamonds and am pretty sure I want the band to be thin. I am thinking I want a 6 prong instead of 4 - what are your opinions on either? Heres one setting I have been looking at but only seen online. They said they can do a 6 prong for me. Its also hard to tell how 'thin' it is. I think the thinner band makes the rock look large? I am shooting for somewhere around 2ct.

Pave bands don't make it easy to do thin. BUT you should look at Leon Mege for anything pave related, because he is THE MASTER.

I agree that thinner bands make the diamond look larger. I have a thin diamond band on my engagement ring and it looks fabulous with eternity band stacking type rings (like Tiffany's Celebration rings). The diamond looks larger when I wear the engagement ring alone, but I like to wear it with 2 diamond eternity bands.

I love a super thin band for a solitaire :yes:
But please know how delicate pave can be, especially if you ever want to pair a band w/ it.

I have 6 prongs now and I like less metal, I want to go to 4 or 5 prongs.

Yes I plan to do a solitare, I am not into the sidestones.

What do you mean by pave being delicate? Please do tell.

I think 6 prong makes it look more round as 4 sometimes from far away can make it look like a princess cut? Maybe its just in my head? Hmm maybe I will consider 5? I dont want a lot of metal covering the stone.

Edit: WOW those are some gorgeous rings! I have seen you ladies talking about him before but never really look-looked! Do you have to call for pricing? ( I hate that!)



I am taking it you ladies dont like that setting? LOL Its OK I want honest opinions here.

I love the setting. I look similar to the one me and my boyfriend looked at in Jareds. But the sells associate(also a friend from high school) told us that a 4 prong will show off the diamond better then a 6 prong. She did also mention that a 6 prong will hold the diamond better with less chances of losing it, scrtching, or chipping. But if you have a good insurance policy like Jared has you don't have to worry about it. If you crack or chip your diamond Jareds will replace it for free right there and then and if they don't have your specific diamond then they will give you a upgrade. But I would love to see other views of your setting and where is it from?

^^Thanks,I am really thinking now that its going to be thicker than I want. I post a pic above of something more what I want. I am always working with my hands so I would want something more secure....

If you really want the round shape to be visible maybe a thin bezel set? I personally don't care for the look of prongs on a diamond and a bezel will go all the way around the diamond in a very thin metal of your choice and id will remain secure too. my 2 cents.

I'm going to change mine to flat{ish} claws so the chunky prongs are gone. I do like 6 to make it look round, that's why I was thinking 5 instead of 4, but really the claws don't do that to a round anyhow IMO.

My comment about pave being delicate is that it cannot rub against anything or it'll get damaged.

i prefer the second batch of pictures you posted b/c it reminds me of my band: thin.
but truthfully it's all subjective and you should get what you love. pave bands are gorgeous, i just prefer a dainty/thin band.

i also prefer 4 prong settings and for big stones i LOVE the claw prongs.
