I know that its of little consquence and probably not noticable. In fact I have earrings with only very good symmetry or polish (i cant remember which) and it doesn't bother me for earrings. It did a little in the beginning but I got over it because they are just earrings. But for an engagement ring I would want something triple excellent. If just for my neurotic psychopathic and completely unreasonable peace of mind! Lol

just so you know--no one will know but you. you couldnt pick it apart from a very good. its not probably not noticeable --it is not noticeable. most people dont really understand polish and how it is graded.

But then again, Crow's current is Ex ex vg, so it might not bother her at all.

I didn't even know it wasn't triple Ex until I got the certificate in the mail two weeks after purchasing. Like I said, I was being impulsive when I upgraded (and it was the largest of the three I looked at that time). I did feel a twinge of regret when I found out though. I feel like my original 1.33 H Ex/Ex/Ex shimmered more but its so hard to tell since I never had them out of the false Tiffany store lighting together. Thats one thing I don't like about jewelry stores, the lighting is so perfect/intense that its hard to see any difference in any of the stones. But get some smudges on them in the real world and the differences become more noticeable. I may just fingerprint-them-up before deciding to get an honest look. :graucho:

I know. But my engagement ring isn't for anyone else but me and my fiancé. So how we feel about it is what is the most important. It's not about whether or not other people will know so much as what I would know. I know it doesn't make sense and probably is ridiculous but just my personal crazy tendencies.

But this is just me and I'm in no way imposing it. Just giving my choice if it was me, all diamonds are sure to be gorgeous and gigantic!

of course! I agree-its what you want and what is important to you-- but I just want to make sure people are fully aware...

If you feel like you would have a twinge of regret again... I'd personally go triple X to ease that feeling. And even more so if this is the last of your upgrades and the final diamond on your finger.

You lucky girls! Between your dilemma choosing between these beautiful stones and kohl choosing between the love and VCA.... Boy I wish I had those types of problems. Lol

Does anyone know what tiffanys does with the old diamonds? Do they resell them as new engagement rings? Or recertify then resell?

Silly as it may be, the triple Ex does make me feel like I got the most for my money so it is a selling point for me. (I always wondered why they just don't do a slightly better job at 'polishing' the stones so that every one is an Ex. I mean how much caratage could you really lose?)

As for all the decision making, I think its these darned price increases! They really put the fire under your butt to make a decision.

Sorry, I'm no diamond expert, so I can't be of much help. But can you elaborate on Tiffany's diamond price increase? Is it going to be a straight % across all diamond engagement rings? And this is happening at the end of June? TIA.

I would look at all 3 stones without knowing the grades. Whatever your eyes falls in love with is it. It's Tiffany so it can't be crappy! Besides, you might fall in love with the cheaper option! Diamonds on paper, is like a man being called "tall, dark, handsome" - really subjective sometimes!

When I asked about the increase, my SA said "on June 12? No, not on this category anyway." and then later when we were talking about what day to come in to see the rings, she said something along the lines of "oh good, that will get this all wrapped up before the increases." No comments about pricing but people in other threads seem to have been told that it will be a flat 10% for engagement rings on June 29 .

I got the G!! I had to wait until tonight because she couldn't get the original G and had to get a different, very similar, G color for me to look at instead. I'm at the Bruins game right now so my reveal will have to wait until tomorrow but I love it!!! It's huge, almost ridiculous. But in the best possible way. You diamond girls will know what I mean! =)
