Being extremely fortunate and beyond my wildest dreams, I was able to attain several HG bags this year through my local SA and in Paris. (I am on Ban Island for awhile).

Admittedly, I diligently developed a good relationship with my SA and purchased consistently during the last 2 years. Thank you TPfers for your valuable advice and guidance. I am forever grateful.

I also must admit that my fondness of the brand has grown over the months. But I don't think I will be purchasing as often as when I was in hot pursuit. It was becoming costly.

What is your advice moving forward in maintaining a relationship with my SA.

Thank you.

Congrats!

I usually just call my sa when want particular item(s).
When arrives, I go buy.
We exchange pleasantries, then done.
Extent of "relationship."

Months pass without contact.
But, whenever I call, no problems.

Thank you remainsilly. We've actually become pretty friendly - we both like to travel and share tips and tricks.

Believe me - there are many things I still want!

Hermès is in my life too. But I’m like you as well as I’m going to slow down a bit now. It is fun to extend the pleasure and buy slowly. :-)
You can buy small things you want here and there. I think a good SA does not expect you to keep up the same pace all the time.

My words exactly.

The more orange boxes we have, the more selective we become. Many tpfers seem to gravitate towards exotics, SOs or new bag models after the basics are covered. My pace has definitely slowed down but I buy more expensive/selective pieces instead.

About the SA, they will always be there. I have multiple and they always seem to remember me when I visit the store a couple of times a year.

so true

I can see my taste and collection evolving... and definitely becoming more selective

I love this thread as it's very realistic in that at some point "the average" Hermes fan is going to either want to slow down on H purchases because all HG wishes have been granted, taste has evolved or priorities have changed (birth of a child, college tuition for kids, buying bigger home, etc). Hence the reason why balance and pacing out purchases is very important to me. My relationship with SAs - be it Chanel, Hermes, Cartier et al is as normal and tamed as possible and I'd have it no other way . This is a win win for me and the SAs because it allows non-attachment for both of us and No hard feelings or "extracurricular" expectations. Did I mention that This is healthy for my bank account so win-win-win. Besides, knowing that I am very much unlikely to be any SAs biggest spender or high roller eases me of the pressure to nurture a "state of the art" relationship. Lol. I exceptionally love Remainsilly's "extent of relationship " comment above. Very witty and relatable
