Well- I was definitely NOT looking for a Chanel bag today. I love bags! Can anyone relate to my ramble? When I buy a Chanel or other premium designer. I fall in love hard. I love the experience of going in the stores, trying them on and talking to the SAs. Then sometimes when I leave and I’m home. And I think crap! Where am I going to wear this? How can I justify the cost if I’m not wearing it a lot?! For example, my Gucci Marmont is a workhorse for me. I can wear it everyday and is super durable. It’s withstood my 80lb dog stepping on it with no damage. It’s very roomy and the zip opening makes it easy to access my stuff. I have no problem with what I spent on it.

CHANEL is my most expensive bags. I have this ❤️ Love hate relationship with my first CHANEL. It’s gorgeous! But it’s an extra mini that barely holds my essentials. I love her because she’s a classic style with a bit of whimsy and bling. She’s a showstopper and gets so many compliments because she is a rare . But I hate her because she’s like a delicate champagne color and I’m afraid to ruin it. She’s so small and I find there is some effort to fit things just right. I save her for special occasions. I have thought about selling her but she’s too much of a rare find.

I’ve had a few other Chanel’s that I ended up selling for one reason or another. Mostly because I realized later that it doesn’t suit my lifestyle and I felt too conscientious wearing them. My everyday commute is on a train and walking .6 miles in rain, snow or any kind of weather. So if I do wear a designer bag, I have to be able to toss it into a bigger bag or it needs to withstand the elements.

So there I was again at Saks. Thinking the most I would buy is a card case. Then I saw this on display and thought it was so cute! It was a nice size and could carry about the same as my Gucci Marmont (which has been my bar for what I need to carry). I have never had a bucket bag of any brand but I liked the ease of access. I liked that it was a textured leather that was durable. I liked that even thought it has the Chanel logo, it’s not an in your face CHANEL. And I love crossbody bags. I hope this is the perfect bag for me. I couldn’t even take her home today! They were pre selling for triple points that starts on TUESDAY! Ugh. The worst! By the way, I was tempted to get the smaller CC bucket bag and did not because didn’t want to repeat the same mistake with my extra mini. Sorry this was so long! If you made it this far, than you for listening!

Oh...I get it! Honestly, there's such a thrill involved with buying a new bag. There's the history of the bag/house, the intricacy of a particular piece, and the excitement that comes from shelling out the money for it. It's a truly emotional experience!

I've definitely purchased bags that excited me initially, but then ended up just sitting on a shelf. I'm still working on that personally (buying bags I'll actually use haha), but at the same time it doesn't really bother me. I never put myself in a bad financial situation with bag purchases, and it's fun to research new bags and find them in stores. Sometimes I end up re-selling them, and sometimes I keep them for ages. I guess it's all part of the adventure. :)

The colour of that bag and where it seats would not work for me. Weekends in dark jeans would mean high chance of colour transfer on an expensive bag. Good luck deciding.
Ah! Good point. I’m hoping that it won’t be an issue. I will probably wear my lighter jeans then. Here’s a pic of the black to how how textured it is.

Love your extra mini! I would switch out to the black color vs the lighter color. I find bucket bags can be a big hole which makes it harder to find things. If it had a top handle, it would have been perfect. I feel the strap drop is a tad bit long on you and this is already crossbody. If you were to shoulder carry this bag, it would be even lower on you. I would think on it some more and I don't think this bag will match your current lifestyle. Just my two cents.

Thanks for your thoughtful insight. This is why I come here! I will see when it arrives and try it on with my lighter colored outfits for my upcoming vacation. I would’ve liked the black but I did want a tan bag that was comparable in size with easy top access. I do have a small purse organizer that will work with this to avoid the black hole issue. You gave some things to consider!

I think bucket bags are nicer in lamb because they soften as you wear them - this looks like caviar? The logo is not subtle at all. I don't like it, but what matters is whether you do. If you're debating it at all, give it a miss. You should be 100% about an expensive purchase.
Thanks for your thoughts! It says on the website it’s grained calfskin. It didn’t seem soft. I liked that it might be sturdier since it’s a lighter color. I will see when I get it the end of the week. I hate that I could not take it home. It’s such a thing when u go to CHANEL and there’s only one thing of certain bags. You feel this need to get it now. I did see a very cute mini bucket but it didn’t fit as much as this. But I resisted it! Lol!

Good luck with your decision. I definitely get caught up in the euphoria of the boutique experience and tend to "forget" my sense of responsibilities, etc., when shopping for designer goods. I hope that you will get what you love and it is great to have a little time at home to digest the situation and see if the bag will actually be a good fit for you. In my opinion, your Marmont is the prettiest of all of the bags you have posted here. I just love the sheen on that leather.

. Thank u! I think Euphoria is definitely the word for it! Maybe there should be a Bag, borrow or steal boutique! Lol! I do rent the runway and love that. I definitely love my Marmont bag. I use that effortlessly. And I’m hoping this bucket bag will be the same for me in a neutral color. I feel like I can carry it for spring summer and fall. I had the SA try it on as she had a lighter color outfit.

I couldn’t find where to update my old post so here goes. As much as I loved the bucket bag at first, there were some serious cracking and peeling on the drawstring. We didn’t see it in the euphoric state of the CHANEL euphoric experience. When my bag arrived I immediately noticed this. Sadly it went back today. They said they could try to find me a new one but I think the same thing would happen over time. I did feel as some mentioned, that it may have been a tad long on me. Thank you to everyone who gave their input in the first thread!

Yes, I saw a similar bag in store this week and the leather was cracking right where the hooks should be attached. I am so glad I decided not to buy it. The black is sold out. They will have a lot of headaches with these styles if they don’t address the design. Thank you for posting!!!!
