PB satchel on ILD in the brown tmoro color for $135 with code HEADSTART

  • H 8" x W 5.75" x L 13"

At 13" tis that the 'regular' or small size? or what was called the medium?
It's pretty heavy!

She explains that this bag would be considered a true medium, even though D&B says it's a small. The one I linked on ILD says "Offered at $368.00 starting in June 2018".

OK, for the Florentine satchel, the original small (12"), $368 was the list price when it
was first offered many, many years ago. So it seems like the one pictured at
13" is the small. Very confusing.
And I'm still amazed at the weight.... the Florentine small is not that heavy!
It's just over 2 lbs.

WOW! Now it costs $528. My goodness the prices have really gone up…
Yes they have! The prices seem on par with other mid range contemporary brands
these days. Question is will Dooney maintain the high quality they used to have.
I don't know if it's fair to judge when you buy a handbag at an outlet/ILD.
But if you buy full price, you should be able to expect excellence for those
prices.... leather and craftsmanship. We used to be able to rely on that even
from the outlets. Not so much in my recent experience.

I know coach outlet bags are NOT the same quality as coach boutique. I can tell the difference. I’m not saying coach outlet is bad quality, but I am saying there is a difference. The wallet I got my mom At coach.com has small differences than the same type of long zip accordion wallet on the coachoutlet website. Before I purchased I had her pick. She noticed the difference, coach is ALL she carries and has several wallets in this style. Mom doesn’t want any other type of wallet, and it’s what she is used to.
They rarely have bags from coach boutique in the outlet store.

when I went to the dooney outlet, the store said Dooney & Bourke, there was no outlet anywhere on the sign Nor the receipt. The bags in store are the same bags from dooney.com… I have no idea why there is a dooney.com ilovedooney.com and ild eBay with the same items at 3 different prices. I have ordered from all 3 and the outlet store. I really don’t see a difference in the quality of the bags.

i believe someone said all the ship from the same warehouse?

Unlike Coach and other brands, it's been my understanding that Dooney does
not make bags especially for the outlets. Outlets carry overstocks, older seasons, collections, and possibly returns from large stores/shopping channels. The items
in the outlets are supposed to be first quality, the same quality as sold on
Dooney.com and in Dooney boutiques or dept. stores. Any defective item
is supposed to be marked as irregular or sample and not sold as regular merchandise.

However, Dooney does customize their handbags for large store/shopping channels...
so they might be a different leather, have different trim, etc. I'm guessing they
do this to make items unique and special and also to meet price targets. If/when
these bags end up in the outlets, they may be different from the versions sold
elsewhere.

Also, most Dooney bags (except Alto and maybe Made in USA) are mass produced.
I'm guessing not every bag goes thru a quality control check. So, sometimes
issues slip thru and end up at any retail/outlet.

ILD does have a clearance section that are final sale. Who knows if these contain
customer returns or less than perfect bags sometimes.

All that said, until recently, all the Dooney bags I have bought from any
place.... Dooney boutique, Dooney.com, ILD, shopping channels are all
equal quality. Rarely a bag with an issue slips thru.
But lately I've gotten several bags from ILD that had construction issues and should
not have been shipped. I guess if you buy enough bags you will someday
encounter the few that have a problem. It's a matter of statistics!

My very favorite PL design - the Cooper. The ease of the magnetic closure does it for me, the wide strap, plus it smushes against the body comfortably. My pooch is named Cooper after the bag...but plz don't tell him. He's quite emotional and doesn't need to know. :giggle: I do wish DB would offer the bag again in PB in new colors. Pictured are red, strawberry, natural (I think) and bubble gum.

Lily: I love your color collection in the Cooper. I have several Cooper bags too...
in pebbled, in ostrich embossed, and one in Florentine leather.
But none of mine are the bright and beautiful colors of yours. I have bordeaux,
black, sand, and Florentine in elephant (ugh). The Cooper is a great style, even for hand carry (which I must). The bag holds a lot without being overly heavy.
I carry the sand pebbled Cooper often, when I get tired of looking at another
satchel style handbag.
