My Dooney and Bourke Buckley Bag has just arrived. First impressions are this bag is absolutely beautiful. It’s lighter than the large Florentine satchel. This is my first drawstring bag and it’s amazing the way drawstring is all on the inside of the bag. This makes the Buckley look so unique. I got it in navy with natural accents. I don’t have anything in natural and I’m a bit scared of this color. I’m looking forward to using this bag this weekend.

Your Buckley is beautiful and I love the contrast color trim. Based on the color of the trim in the pic,
I don't think it's a 'natural, undyed Vachetta leather.

Dooney uses a range of trim colors from a light, almost
white undyed natural Vachetta leather, to dyed Vachetta leather in shades of light tan thru darker richer
brown. Trim colors different names and use them in different collections, not just Florentine.

In my experience, only the undyed trim is scary and vulnerable to showing every bit of
dirt and moisture. While any color of the smooth Vachetta leather can show dirt and water
spots, the dyed shades are more likely to hide the marks. And while the undyed Vachetta trim
will naturally darken over time and supposedly hide the stains, it takes a long time for the undyed
natural Vachetta leather to achieve enough color. The dyed Vachetta leather gives it a nice head start,
although I think that the dyed Vachetta leather is unlikely to patina and darken much (if at all, over time).

Also note, the trim on the handbags is often a different leather than the main body of the bag....
a pebbled leather bag may have Vachetta trim, which is smooth. A Florentine bag may have
Vachetta leather trim which is processed differently than Florentine leather and may have different
characteristics. I've alse seen Dooney use Saffiano trim on bags made of different materials...
often nylon or coated canvas.

If you can find a description of your Buckley, you might be able to find the info on the trim.

Thank you for that. I appreciate your insight. Says natural trim, but I’ll will look at the qvc videos on this bag and see what they describe. I love the look of this bag. The logo plate is the same matte brushed gold as the hardware, awesome. I like it can look and function as a tote OR drawstring. I don’t have either style of bag.

I love the look of the natural Buckley and natural Florentine, but Im really scared I will muck it up. I’m clumsy and will drop a spill on it unknowingly, as I’m drinking coffee right now petting it in my lap LOL. Bags have a hard time staying out of my lap. Smh. I love the look of this Buckley, and all of my items fit nicely with room to spare.

It amazes me that I when I purchased this nwt bag($160),there weren’t any in this color. after I purchased a few popped up for more $$$. Seeing the original price, I’m glad I pulled the trigger on this steal of a bag.

You seem to be finding a lot of Dooney treasures at great prices in really nice condition. You are braver than I.
But you are acquiring a beautiful collection of Florentine handbags.

Some ladies buy natural color Florentine preloved just so that they don't feel intimidated about messing
up a new natural Flo bag. If you can find one in decent shape it might be worth considering. Also,
some people clean and condition all the bags they buy preloved.... including Florentine. I don't condition my new
Florentine handbags, but after a few years, I sometimes use Apple brand conditioner...lightly.... to
give the bags some TLC.

Darker color Florentine is much more care free. But the natural and lighter colors can be beautiful.
I'll admit, when I carry a pale blue or ecru or bone or natural Florentine handbag I am
very careful. And these colors are reserved for outings where I know they can be babied.
My light color Flo bags don't go to the supermarket or any other store, ever. And never to
a restaurant for take out food!

Enjoy your new Flo baby.

Thank you so much. So far I have the florentine domed buckle satchel, the large Florentine satchel, and this Florentine Buckley, all nwt still in the plastic. I paid less than the price of just one large Florentine satchel off Dooney.com. The large Florentine zip pod backpack was my only purchase off of Dooney.com and it was on sale with extra $20 off.

I guess since I get off at midnite, I wind down stalking eBay, Mercari, poshmark. When I see an unbelievable deal with pictures of the actual bag I’m getting, I will usually sleep on it and if it’s there when I wake up, buy it. To be honest I would be a little upset if I ordered from the dooney website and after the anticipation of getting a really smooth good looking Florentine bag, the bag was unevenly pebbled and wrinkled like our Canadian sister with the toggle crossbody.

So most of the preloved natural Florentine bags I see are really not to my liking. I don’t know if the person just didn’t take care of them or the patina was just yuck. I know dooney says the bags don’t need any treatments, but I would have to put some kinda protectant, and who knows how that affects the patina. I live in the Midwest and it’s been fairly dry. I wonder if the rain would stain the natural. Maybe once I get the hang of caring for Florentine leather I’ll get an outlet natural wristlet or coin purse just to try it out.

According to Dooney, if a Florentine handbag gets wet in the rain and you let it dry by itself, it will be good
as new. And some ladies say that's true. There is a gal on youtube (DooneyAddict615) who has several
videos of Florentine bags that got soaked in the rain, and she shows the before and after. The bags looked
awful when they were wet, but looked fine (on the video) once they were dry.

I trust her, but I'm still not convinced. There can be different levels of polution in the air and the water in
different places or different levels of soil on the bag that can affect how it will recover from rain. I've never had
a problem with black or navy Florentine handbags in the rain. But I did get a water spot on a red one and it
never disappeared.... that spot came from tap water when I was washing my hands.

I’ve watched so many YouTube videos where they will say they have water/spots on the natural… I’ve seen a couple of bags for resale with the rain spots… no thank you. I’ll stick with the darker colors. And out of all my hand bag collection I don’t have many black bags. I have nothing white, bone, ivory, chalk, or taupe. Not even a light gray. i guess I just prefer darker colors to carry. I would love the sunflower satchel, Buckley, but I probably won’t find a deal on that color. But I will be looking

Happy searching. Colors go in and out of fashion and peoples tastes and needs change.

I've given away bags that looked dated to me and then a few years later saw similar colors/styles
back in fashion and considered buying them again. Sometimes I gravitate to bright colors and
other times I only reach for the neutrals in my collection. For years I preferred taupe to saddle
as a medium toned neutral. A cooler color pallet is much more flattering with my hair and complexion.
But now, I much prefer handbags in the warmer saddle/natural.camel tones.
Why has as my taste changed or am I just being influenced by fashion/you tube videos?
And I've bought the elephant color and couldn't wait to get rid of it. Others may love it,
but it makes me unhappy to look at it.

Happy handbag hunting.

I want a bordeax/crimson Florentine. Im eyeing a smith bag that looks pretty good. But I don’t know if I would use it. Id Hate to buy it and never use it. There’s a gorgeous ecru Tilton that’s calling , but ecru I don’t know. Anything I wear thats white/cream gets stained and ruined. I’m that lil old lady in the restaurant with the napkin in my collar as a bib. LOL I’ll try and be good annd not purchase anything until September. That Buckley was way too good to pass. Tilton anyone?

Tilton is huge. Yes, all you stuff will fit, but can you carry it? Check out the dimensions before you
drool too much. It's a tall handbag.
Smith might be a good style for you... it's a larger bag too, but more horizonal than vertical.
Smith came in a number of versions.... Florentine and also a nylon too. Read details when you
find one you want to consider.

Great navy bag. Congratulations! I have a florentine navy I carry frequently.
I started hunting around yesterday for another Tessuta tote on the secondary market. I saw a nice NWT one on Posh, navy/t-moro that sold three months ago for $182.00. Darn! I never seem to be hunting at the right time.
I have the Tessuta in the multi, but always wish I purchased a second one in a quiet colorway.

I think I like the east west style better. This Buckley feels heavier than the large Florentine satchel. I ordered a nice guitar strap to see if it will carry a lil better. I like the Buckley, but I LOVE the large florentine satchel. I might not make it a full week in the Buckley without moving back into the large Florentine satchel.

that tilton DIDNT last a day… some lucky person scooped it right up

I'm guessing you will discover lots of large Flo satchels for resale. So many ladies find it just
too big or too heavy and have moved to smaller, lighter, crossbody bags. Their style change
might allow you to expand your large Flo satchel collection now that you know it's a great
carry for you. Happy hunting.

It’s awesome to be able to still get some of those beautiful discontinued colors. Many in Nwt condition. So I think when I go to the outlet I want to get a small and a mini Florentine satchel if they have them. If I get another large I’m liking the slate color. I see a couple up right now looking very pretty. I just can’t seem to bring myself to even look at the black black.
