I went for the Florentine mini satchel that was on clearance for $189… there weren’t any black, one textured red, natural, elephant, and 1 chestnut which I purchased. I’m looking at the Ivy Amalie tote when I go around the store and look at everything again. I WAS NOT CHECKING FOR THIS HATTIE…. SHE WAS IN THE BACK OF THE OTHER HATTIES… I spied Ivy and purchased. Mind you she was on clearance for $209 and the S.A. Gave me an EXTRA 20% off the Ivy Hattie bringing her to $167. Uh yeah I wasn’t gonna leave her at that price. I got a keychain and 4 duck stickers.

I am glad I went today instead of waiting until tomorrow as these 2 bags were there waiting on me to bring them home
Hence meant for me to have….IMG_4755.jpegIMG_4756.jpegIMG_4757.jpegIMG_4758.jpegIMG_4759.jpegIMG_4760.jpegIMG_4761.jpegIMG_4762.jpegIMG_7705.jpegIMG_7704.jpegIMG_7708.jpegIMG_7709.jpeg

Congratulations on your Florentine purchases.
And thank you for taking us along on a virtual tour.
I love your Ivy Hattie. For some reason,
that bag just gets to me. I have the Hattie in Teal and Fuchsia. Both are gorgeous.
So is your Ivy. And I'd love a navy or black one too. Not buying another one,
but they are stunning handbags. Congratulations. I hope you love the Hattie style.

Glad you stayed strong and didn't buy the bag that you knew wasn't functional for you.

The only issue I've heard about regarding the Hattie (aside from its weight) is the
logo lock. Just be careful and protect the leather if you decide to glue the lock.
For the record, since I hand or arm carry my Hattie, rather than shoulder carry,
I haven't had a logo lock incident. I think it has to do with the weight of the bag,
when filled, and the angle of a shoulder carry at times. The leather loop holding the logo
lock to the bag softens over time, and as the bag is swung around, the clasp can
slip thru. At least that is my theory.

I told you!!!

I will die a thousand deaths, but was the oil spot Bristol still there?!
No. None of that was there. They had a natural flo xl Courtney sac and a flo tulip both in natural. I didn’t see ANY discoloration from that menace brown paper. I looked hard at the Courtney. Boy was it heavy. I would have loved one of these Alto totes but I’m not experienced enough to NOT scratch up a bag yet. LOL
They had the satchel 30 and the opening was tiny like the micro.

I tried again with the micro, nope20171003_123750.jpeg

Thanks LJ. It was sooooo cold this morning that I wore my huge down coat… I had that tote on the counter even after I tried it on with my huge coat… my mind was telling me no! So I took another spin around, and lo and behold I see that Ivy Hattie peeking from corner behind the others. They were all beautiful and smooth. If there is an issue I will carefully glue it but hopefully it won’t need it. I wasn’t able to get an any factory wrapped from the back as everything but the elephant mini was on the floor. She was back in the back a looooooooong time giving me time to snap pictures. I wish I had more time to laze around the store and sniff everything more… very happy they had a smooth chestnut mini left. It had a few scratches but I’ll take care of that when I get home from work and make my reveal video…
Again excuse any duplicates I tried to take pics of everything

I think you made the right decision about the Alto tote. I'm an Alto collector,
but I only use my Alto bags selectively. The concept is that they are fine leather
and will age over time like fine wine. I liken it to an old money thing.... you own
only 1 or 2 very good pieces and they last you decades.
I think colors like black, navy, and dark
brown show fewer wear marks. I'm terrified to use the lighter colors, although
I know other Alto collectors who use their lighter color Alto bags all the time.

The other thing is that Alto leather is very structured. So I think it would take
a long time for the leather to soften. It's fine for hand carry or arm carry...
but tucking it on your shoulder and under your arm ?????

Also, the organization inside an Alto is meager and nothing like the
standard Dooney pocket set up on the regular and Florentine lines.
Generally, in an Alto bag there is one tiny flip phone size pocket and
maybe one other slip or zip pocket. No key leash. Some styles have
more organization based on their design, but not pockets that are part
of the lining. Not all Alto bags are fully lined.

Alto is an acquired taste.... beautiful and high quality... but maybe not
designed to be functional for today's busy women. I think Dooney has
spoiled us with the organization on the regular Dooney lines. Many high
end handbag brands have very limited organization inside.
Of course, compared to high end luxury handbag brands, the Dooney Alto
is a fantastic handbag and a great buy.

@mushroomNgrass Thank you for the virtual tour. That store was located between my home and job before I moved somewhere that does not necessitate puffer coats. I really appreciated seeing the store again...and your awesome treasures!
Yup! I'm glad she gave us a tour, because I did not want to do that drive down 294 & 88 again. So thank you MNG! And I'm glad to see they now take orders over the phone and ship!!!

@mushroomNgrass in one of your pix, is the pebble turnlock that debuted a few months ago on the Dooney site. Did you hold it or anything? These were on sale last month on ILD, and i was really biting my nails, but the totes look huge. I'm just curious on how they feel.

Nah. They were near Florentine hence I overlooked them, didn’t even touch em or sniff em. 😞
