Does your LV canvas bag smell?

Hi all,
Merry Chrismas and happy holidays!

I have a quick question. I couldn't help but noticed right away that my Tivoli pm smell 'different'. It does not have the smell of the cowhide leather/vachetta at all as all my other LVs. But infact, it has a certain smell.
This bag was directly purchased from the LV store (just as all my other LVs), yesterday.

I remember my Trevi GM (my only Damier bag) smell different too. But I read other TPF members commented about this so it's fine. But my Tivoli smell nothing like the normal vachetta smell nor anything similar to my Trevi.
Is this normal? Anyone noticed their Tivoli smell different, too?

I really hate having to go back to the store to exchange. So I really hope this happens, as it had been a while I did any LV purchase.
Your kind feedback would be much appreciated.
Cheers. :)

Elliespurse,
Thank you for the link. I do appreciate your reply. :)
I just spoke to my husband about it and was quite surprised before I could even finished the sentence, he said about the smell! And he's not one who usually notice to details. So we are going back to the store tomorrow and see if the other bags they have the smell too. If they are, then I'll just keep the bag and follow the tips from the links. :)

Yikkie,
Thank you for your reply.
Unfortunately, the smell does bother me cos it's quite strong. To the extend that it gave me headache (*I'm one who gets headache+dizzy to certain strong smell). :(
It's hard to relate the smell to. My first though was it smell like some kind of herbal/wood. The next time I thought it smell like slight chemical? But certainly nothing at all of a new cowhide leather. :P

Yes, I love my Tivoli. Once I get this sort out at the store tomorrow(oh, how I hate to do this actually), I know this is going to be the bag I'll be using alot. :)

I've had bags (not LV) that smelled funny when new and the smell did fade over time (leather that smelled "fishy").

You could try putting it out in the fresh air if you can do so without risk of it being stolen, or maybe put it in a box with a couple of baking soda sachets (as someone else already said) and leave it for a couple of days.

Herbal/wood makes me wonder if it's perfume from someone trying it on before you got it? Since you have other LVs and know that this smell is not "normal" for the brand.

my friend had the same problem, strong chemical smell that gave her a headache, you could smell it once you picked up the bag, she went back and exchanged it. The new one is so much better normal Lv scent.

Woah.."fishy smell"?!
Yeah, that's the thing. Having own several Louis Vuitton bag, I was surprised by the smell which greeted me the moment I opened the box! It's not only all over the cowhide leather which smell but also in the interior (dizzy...).

Hehe..I was so bad with my description. :p When I mentioned "herbal/wood" smell, I meant as in those sweet-woody-smell from certain trees. So I wonder if it could be the wood from the cupboard where they store the bag??

Yeah..that's the thing. If it just smell different, I wouldn't really mind though I would still be surprised why it smell different. But it's the headache+dizzy which it gave me when I smell it.. I really hope the SA would agree with me, otherwise I don't know what to say!:push:

Hello lovely tpfers

Has anyone had issues with this particular lining smelling unusual? I think the term I found was a crayon smell. If you did, did it go away?

Thank you so much for your help!
