Like a halo you can fit other studs into (diamond, pearl, other gems, gold or silver beads, whatever!)

It sounds like you they are not quite as large as you had hoped for, however.
Did you try other sizes on? What about 1ct per earring? I think this is a great size for both day and night. Over time, diamonds do tend to "shrink". Not really, but you do become accustomed to their size so while these look very nice if you feel they are small now, they might really bother you later.
Are they very sparkly? To me, small and sparkly is preferable to larger and not as sparkly

^^Ditto. If they seem to small now, you will definitely think they are too small later.
I, too, had 1ctw diamond studs on my wish list for a long while, but when I tried them on realized that I much preferred the look of 2 ctw studs on my ears. So, I am currently holding out for a nice pair of 2ctw studs as my next big purchase. 1ctw is a great, popular size for everyday, but I do think 1.5 btw or 2ctw might be a size that you would be happy with longterm.
Don't settle on them if there is any doubt that you want bigger. Better to wait, if need be, and get what you really want.

I know what you mean... I have a pair like yours, 1ct. total weight, that I've had for a long time, but I always wanted something more substantial for evenings out. DH gave me a beautiful (and larger) pair of stud earrings for our second anniversary and that's all I wear now. The smaller set is still perfect for day though. Very classic and ladylike.
Well I think they look perfect, but then I prefer smaller diamonds in general. Even my e-ring is relatively small. For me yours would be the perfect size for day, evening, everything. Getting that halo diamond jacket would be a good alternative for when you need more bling.
