Does LV do restorations on turn of the century pieces?

So I actually had another trunk getting repaired at LV, somebody took a pry bar to the lock and took off a nice chunk of wood while also damaging the bottom half as well. LV would not repair this due to the possibility of further damaging the integrity of the trunk. I'm somewhat baffled since trunks are what once was the bread and butter of the company, now you can't replace a section/panel of the box? Somebody paid $10k for this, I'm happy I didn't because they should be able to repair anything. I don't want to go to Rago only because I'd like it done by LV themselves with their materials.
