I am trying to get over the hang up of my purse hardware matching my jewelry. Anyone else like this ? I usually wear silver and find myself attracted to silver hardware bags but now found a bag I like but it had gold ........

  1. For me it depends on how prominent the hardware is. If it's just zippers and strap buckles it isn't jarring to me. I also have some bi and tri colored purse charms to add that help blend the look. If the hardware, silver or gold, is a big part of the design I just have to match my jewelry to it or feel it's too clashing.

The vast majority of my Coach bags have the black copper hardware, so it goes with anything.

More seriously though, my jewelry preference is rose gold, and there are practically never any bags that come with rose gold hardware, so I never match and it doesn't bother me. Even if rose gold hardware bags do exist (I have an Alexander Wang Marion with it), it's usually a super pink version and clashes with my rose gold jewelry anyway.

I don't usually worry about the hardware on my purse matching my jewelry, but I often try to match the hardware on fobs and charms to the bag - but not always. If there is a charm that is a great match for the bag, I don't care if the hardware matches.

Gold, silver, and black are all considered "neutral" colors so they will go with most things. Rosegold is a little trickier, I usually match a bag with rosegold hardware to a charm with gold hardware, if I don't have anything suitable in rosegold.

What is interesting to me is that rose gold sort of goes with both silver and yellow gold. I feel comfortable wearing rose gold jewelry with either color hardware. It somehow seems between the two tones.

I oddly feel like it doesn't quite go with yellow gold! I'm ok with the jewelry/purse mismatch, but I can't stand wearing rose gold jewelry with another piece of jewelry in yellow gold.

No.. and I'm pretty ocd about a lot of stuff, matching the tone of my jewelery to my bag is not one of them. Actually, I've gotten myself to the point where I don't care if my bag 'matches' what I'm wearing or not. ( I don't have brightly colored bags so I don't have to worry about clashing colors.)

I don’t match it to my jewelry, which is typically white gold or platinum, but I’m not a fan of gold in general so I tend toward silver and grey hardware unless I really love a bag with gold (my LV Trevi for example). For that reason it nearly always matches, but I don’t plan it that way.

No I don’t really ever think about it. If I was really dressing up for an event maybe then I’d consider it.

Kind of related but I used to want my bag to match my outfit color wise, but now I more want my bag to “go” with my outfit style. If my bag matches my vibe for the day I feel like the color doesn’t matter as much.

No not at all . I usually always leave my house with a necklace on and a pair of stud earrings . And of course never leave home with out my wedding ring set . I never think about if it matches my bag HW . Now I will say , I always wear a bag charm on one of my bags . I am anal about this matching ! LOL. Not sure why , but I really do not care for the mixed metals on a purse . I guess since they are so close together its much more noticeable .

Haha I also prefer my charm to match the bag hardware. Since my return to Coach I don’t have any charms that match my Rogue black copper, ok I did buy one of the outlet little stuffed bears and the gunmetal hardware matches the black copper for the most part. I’ve been looking for black copper charms on eBay. All my other charms are gold or silver and I don’t know why it annoys me so much that they don’t match haha

I need to get a couple of charms that have mixed hardware because then I’d feel like I mixed hardware on purpose lol
