Does Cartier WG love ring turn to yellowish easily?

omg, that is awful. Is it possibly because over time, your watch has mixed with chemicals (like cleaning sprays or anything that may have faded the gold?) Its the only thing I can think of... I would be very interested to hear what cartier has to say....

It's been a gradual fade of the rose colour. The watch is two and a half years old and has never come in contact with anything but the occasional spray of water when I've washed my hands. It's not even my everyday watch and would be worn once or twice a week at the most. I've just witnessed it slowly turning into what looks to be almost yellow gold, over the last year and a half. It has never been in contact with any chemicals or anything other than water.. and barely that.

Cartier's wg is slightly different than other brands' wg. Their wg is mixed with palladium (thus the reason why these pieces are more expensive than rg/yg) so its base is more white and is dipped to give it more shine.

I'm also curious as to how rg would fade over time. . .and also what Cartier will say! Keep us updated 4ever!!

I'm going on a weeks vacation and the minute I return, I will make this my priority! I didn't realize, how much it has changed, until I saw the new Ballon Blue in the showroom at my jewellery store. You wouldn't really know that it was the same colour at one time!

It was my understanding that only the WG pieces with diamonds are plated? I could be wrong. Both my WG Love rings have diamonds and I did have one of them replated after a couple years. Our other WG pieces without diamonds have held up nicely, no yellowing, that's for certain.

Hi 4everonwaitlist. I have a friend that had a similar experience as yours. She purchased a RG love bracelet and it turned YG before our eyes. It was quite a shocker. Did you ever get this resolved through Cartier? I understand from some members that their RGs have never faded in color. Lucky them! But I'm curious about your dilemma since it's the same problem as my friends. TIA!

Hi eye candy,
Yes, I did manage to get my beloved RG Ballon back to rose again! My dealer sent the watch to Cartier here in Toronto and after their inspection, was told that a polish would take care of the yellowing issue. Apparently, it was just oxidation that had occurred after owning it for almost three years. Once it was polished, it was returned to me in the same condition as when I purchased it new. My SA held it up next to a new Ballon in the display case and they were identical in colour.

My only concern is...from what I understand, a watch of white, yellow or rose gold should not be polished too frequently because it supposedly wears away a bit of the gold each time. So I'm a bit annoyed that this will be part of the upkeep of my watch for the forseeable future....unlike Rolex's rose gold which is more 'stable' with the addition of platinum to the rose gold.

I absolutely love my Ballon Bleu and wouldn't choose another watch because of what turned out to be a small issue.
Hope this helps!
