No, certainly I do not know why it is $3000 worth of ugly. Just how much hand work is involved and how hard was it to kill the cow? Go to Tandy or another leather good store, buy the materials and make one similar for much less. You can even add a few beads or flowers, use different colors and make it yours alone. I would also suggest using a sheer or tulle as a liner so you get the look without all of your stuff falling out.
Anyway, Ralph Lauren's name is not worth that much to me.
