Does Anyone Like Cloth Bags?

Not for me - once I had a cloth Coach and got caught in the rain and the water soaked through and ruined a lot of my stuff. I only buy coated canvas or leather bags (for purses) but will use cloth shopping bags.

I have a Wayuu Mochila I love. I have a preference sometimes for bags with zero hardware. It's a great length for me cross body and it's beautifully handmade. Each one has a story with the weave. Only really a weekend bag though; a bit too casual for during the week.

I like them for certain things. I often carry a foldable, plain, undyed cotton bag with me in case my leather bag gets too full (shopping, food, work papers etc.), or in case it rains I have a water proof foldable bag that folds up smaller than a pack of tissues.

For the beach/ pool/ sports I also prefer cloth/ nylon.

If I have to chose though, I go for (real) leather first always...even though I like cloth too. What I don't like is spending much for it. :p
I can also sew a cloth bag, even with some minor leather detail added...so I'm not to keen on buying one.

I have one Fossil bag made of (uncoated) quilted canvas though, which is so rich in detail I actually really like it.

If I know that there is zero chance of rain in the forecast, I'll wear my jacquard (fabric) crossbody bags. They're the Maruca Design worker bee bags. At one point in time, I was obsessed with this brand and had more than 20 pieces. But, I've purged my collection of this brand to the worker bee style and a few accessories.

I used to spray coat all my Veras when I had them with Scotch Guard - no color change and repelled water like plastic. But of course the colors especially the edges fade over time so not recently. The one exception is the new Coach jacquard which seems fairly tough, not the signature logo, which I kind of like but the bags they use them on are not in the shapes I carry.

If I get a fabric bag, it will be sprayed. Coach actually sells fabric cleansers for their bags but never tried them. Not really into bags that come with coated fabric.

There are so many times in life when cloth/canvas/nylon is the (only) right alternative.
I love my Marimekko bags, I own a red Mini Matkuri (the old edition with slightly shorter handles), an olive green Arkkitehti and a camel brown Seilori (out of production, a seaman's sack-type large bag). You'd be hard pushed to find a Finn without a Marimekko (or 2, or 5) hiding in their closet...
I also have a few totes from DKNY Jeans, Peak Performance, Hanna Sarén and a hobo by Guess. I love all of them and especially in the summer they get a lot of action. The Marimekko bags I use the year around, they're very practical and comfy for school, work and travel. Not to mention my Longchamp nylon bags, which have put up with years of abuse and still refuse to give up.
