Does anyone ever have buyer’s remorse?

Yes. I’m just starting out my luxury journey, and bought my first bags earlier this year all preloved. I’ve shown my Prada, and I don’t regret that purchase at all. However, there were two other purchases at were definitely impulse purchases.

I bought a Gucci Tote and a Balenciaga cosmetic bag that I planned to use as a clutch. I have never worn a tote or clutch before as those weren’t really my style. The tote has no shape and the straps are thick and hurt my arm. The cosmetic bag is beautiful but I don’t really wear clutches though I could see myself wearing one if I were to just go out to eat real quick or whatever.

I wish I didn’t impulse buy, but I’m going to try to use them in a different way. Mainly travel, and see how that goes. While I don’t like the idea of selling there’s no point in having bags I don’t use at all.

The thing is, I know I would feel the exact same way if I had purchased my other choices or even if I hadn’t bought these bags at all

if this is the case, then perhaps it’s bc you feel shocked at price tags, and many of us on TPF can speak from experience, you will get over it :D

But, if you don't want to sell, I think it's important to figure out why you feel that way

IMO, figuring out your taste and what works is part of the curation process. I prefer not to shop with girlfriends bc they tend to say yes to everything. Prefer not to shop with some family bc I dont like judgment over prices Or if item is not on sale.

have had more instances of regretting NOT buying something than buying i

yes, this! Impulse is not always a bad thing. Sometimes we overthink. Trust your gut instinct

@slytheringirl, the Balenciaga cosmetic case as a clutch is a great idea. Esp. For travel. Fingers crossed it works for you And would love to see an action pic! Re the other bag with straps that hurt, can you return?

This! Before I got into luxury items (which was at the beginning of this year), I would have been like "$200 for [insert item here]? That's crazy!" Now that I've bought some bags preloved, and now two bags and an SLG from the store brand new, I'm like "Hey! Their cute socks are ONLY $200." I'm even looking at clothing stores like GAP and J. Crew without thinking they're too expensive.

It's so weird how my perception has changed in such a short period of time.

I use an Hermes Karo for the summer when going out to lunch/dinner in spite of it being a cosmetic bag
Try using yours as a clutch & you just might enjoy it that way. Its quite serviceable as it holds
keys. money, lipstick & cc...
When you are in the "designer category" for bags, prices are what they are.. Not too many prices
shock me today, what surprises me at times is what people will spend .. Value has a different meaning
in the world we live in today
Any bag that you feel was an impulse buy that you are not enjoying I would consider selling
& perhaps funding towards a bag that you will enjoy more. Many of us have done this & continue
to do so, be it a bag, accessory or clothing.. JMO

Yes, that's what I'm going to do. If I really don't like wearing it as a clutch, then I really want to use it for travel, because when we are able to go on vacations again, I can see me using it that way. I just go back and forth because I really like it and want to use it somehow. If I end up using it as a cosmetic bag that sits in my bathroom, I'm fine with that. I don't want to let this piece go.

I know how I sounded in my previous post, but when thinking about selling I really felt like I wanted to hold onto this bag while I feel fine selling my Gucci tote. I guess I now know which impulse buy is the real regret.

I actually just contacted the place where I bought my Gucci tote which was Fashionphile. I want to see if I can sell it with them since that is where I bought it and the dustbag is even a Fashionphile dustbag, so we'll see how that goes. I did have it authenticated just for my own peace of mind and it's authentic, so there should be no problem in that department.

Does anyone ever have serious regrets after buying a new bag? I own four luxury bags and I love them all so much. I can afford on average one a year. However, I feel buyer’s remorse that I either didn’t research each purchase enough, should’ve bought something different, etc. Two of my bags were decided upon in store. I had originally gone in looking to purchase one thing, but with the help of the SA (and my MIL) I ended up with something completely different. My other two were contemplated for months, and I STILL feel like I made the wrong decision! The thing is, I know I would feel the exact same way if I had purchased my other choices or even if I hadn’t bought these bags at all!

Does anyone else ever feel this way?

Not in the same way. I only have buyer's remorse when I truly regret it and cannot return it (like if I bought shoes half and size too small and found out by wearing them out or a nonrefundable/ final sale item that was different than expected)

If I am indecisive about an item now, I leave it in my house for a week. If I don't really want it, I return it

I regret buying my first ever luxury/designer bag. I was new to the whole bag thing, really only having used backpacks prior. It opens from the top and is an accordion style. I've learnt that it's not really my vibe. I tried selling it but so far people only "like" it. Maybe later on I will end up liking it again!

Absolutely. Thankfully as I've aged I tend to have it very early (usually within a week) so I can still return. But I learned alot from my regrets earlier in my bag days. I tend to do a lot of online shopping so it probably fuels the need to have the regret early.

I just purchased my first Chanel bag. I’ve always wanted a Chanel classic flap. Since receiving the bag a few days ago I’ve been feeling terribly guilty. I knew the price when I purchased but it’s sinking in more now that the initial excitement has worn off.

i have been thinking should I return this? I’d feel like I missed out on my dream bag, and I’d feel terrible to the kind SA who helped me find it. But I also can’t help feeling that maybe with the money I should have used more “responsible” and that I just don’t deserve it.. Is this normal? Lol

if I decide to return… how much will SA hate me? :(

I wouldn’t worry about the feelings of the SA, returns happen.
