Okay, so I'm currently suffering from this problem and I'm hoping you ladies (and gentlemen! I can't be the only one on this site.) out there are (or have) felt this pain...

Do you have that one bag that you just "had to have" but find yourself NEVER carrying it? Not even for a week? A few days? A day? Half of a day? BUT, it hurts too much inside to even think about ever getting rid of it?

No? You don't? Neither have I.

Just kidding.

I'm currently suffering with this problem and I have no idea what to do. I have a beautiful Bleecker Flap Brief that I couldn't live without and I find myself never carrying this beauty. (Mainly because it's too heavy. And also I purchased it because it was before I came to terms that I was confident enough to walk around carrying a Swagger bag, being a gentleman and all.)

I adore the bag and the leather is beautiful as well as the design, but I find myself never using this piece and I just can't get rid of it.

What to do?!

You are not alone. I have lots of leather bags that I never carry because they are so heavy. I could never let them go though.

Yes I have a reed krakoff rk40. I loooooove it. Would never sell it. Had it about a year. Maybe used it once. Every time I think about carrying it I get nervous since it is a light pink color. I envision someone at work dropping a pen on it or me bumping it against something dirty. It's not even because it was a High price point bags that I'm nervous. It is not the most I ever spent on a bag. I think it's because I love it so much I want it to stay perfect. And now it's not replaceable since reed krakoff is no longer in business so that adds another reason not to carry it. I feel your pain. You are not alone. Oh and yeah its my avatar on here because it is my favorite bag. Which makes me even crazier since I never carry it. 😄

Your definitely far from alone with this "problem" ... so many lovely bags but sadly not all will work for us individually due to a multiple reasons.

As for what to do with it? two choices really, either keep and use it minimally, or sell it.

I worried the same way about my RK like Aundria17 says above. I also have a haircalf duffle that I can't believe I haven't even carried once since it landed on my desk.

But I do carry my RK and while I'm careful with it, I don't worry about babying it because it's leather, it's a bag, it's heavy (even empty), but it's meant to be worn/loved.

I will eventually move into my haircalf duffle as soon as they sky decides to stop raining/hailing/making a mess of things.

If you can't get rid of it because you love it, then try carrying it for a short day or special occasion. It may not really be all that heavy as you remember it. You may just fall in love even more!

And if not, then surely you have someone close to you who would appreciate such a bag and could gift it to them. You'll see them and the bag often and will get to admire it from afar. :)

I do the same thing with my floral Sophia! I have worn it, but only a couple of times since DYING to get it!!
It's just so pretty with its little appliqué flowers that I don't want to take it out on a day where I'm just knocking it around. I really should plan to take it (her?) out when I'm just having a lunch/dinner and not shopping or doing errands at the same time, which is difficult because I'm always multitasking, lol.

I would just suggest putting your things in it on a Sunday night, or before the workweek sometime. Then it's harder to switch out when you're in a rush and you'll have no choice but to carry it?? I'd do that with Sophia, but she's really not functional as a work bag!

I've run into quite a few that I absolutely love the look of, but never used, frequently because of weight. I made a personal rule last year as a New Year's resolution that I don't cut tags until I carry a bag, and either use it within 30 days of purchase, or I sell it or return it to the store I bought it from. It's hard, and it stinks, and I recently had to list a bunch that I'd never carried in over six months (like I said, it's hard). But this allows me to put the money from sales towards something I will use without feeling guilty or overwhelmed by the size of my collection.

My exotic python embossed Sophia. It was love at first sight, I look good wearing it, but I fear something will happen to it and I will be so sad. So it sits in my closet.....I take it out to pet it and look at it from time to time. And I tell myself to use it with a specific outfit, but then I chicken out.

I totally understand your 'dilemma' but for me personally I can't afford to purchase bags and just have them sit unused. If I'm not using a bag often enough then off it goes to a new home.
That way I get rid of any guilt I may have as it stares longingly at me from my closet!

Yes, I have quite a few bags that I seldom/never carry. Most are because they are too heavy. I just can't hike around the mall shopping carrying a heavy bag. I have returned some beautiful bags because they were too heavy, even though I loved them.

I also have a couple that are too fancy and I'm afraid they'll get scratched or dirty.

When I do carry these types of bags it's mostly for visiting, dinner out, when it's only for a short time, from the car, to the car, etc.
