Hello @docride! I would love to know your thoughts on this.

I had a pen ink mark and I’ve read alcohol isopropyl works well. The mark went away but very quickly this brown spot appeared.
I don’t know if I took the colour off, or the area has colour transfer with the brown edge paint from the pocket.

What can I do at this point? Many thanks!

Hello @docride. Hope you're well. I have been looking at this preloved Birkin 35 in Bleu Nuit, Clemence leather. Is this kind of slouching normal? Is there anything to be done to maintain the shape of the bag/minimise the visibility of the back pocket? Thank you in advance.

Hi
Clemence is a buttery soft (oily )leather in an Hermes birkin of larger than a. 30 cm will tend to slouch . I’d use a structured bag insert to help the bag stay upright .
I don’t have any trick other than that . The slouchy cuddly puddly clemence Birkins are a special treat for many and a turn off for some.
There are shops which perform a stiffening but unstitching the front and back panel and sliding in a stiff compost material in between the outer leather and the interior leather of the front and rear panels. Personally I feel those results can look weird. I’d get a stiffer leather bag insert Epsom, box calf , fjord , etc
All the best doc

Hi there
You will need help of a trust professional stop doing anything more . A trusted professional can do some color work and make your bag look much improved.
Wishing you very best of luck.

Hi @docride,

I am looking at an unused Birkin 25 from a reseller. From the picture, are you able to tell if the 2 lines on the base are scratches or indentations or leather grains?

Thank you.

Hello,
I just purchased this Swift vintage bag and noticed some dark spots on the back. The seller's photos were all taken outside and it's really hard to see in the sunlight but in the shade I can definitely see it. Is this something I can improve at home by myself or does it need the H Spa? If it even went to the spa would it even be able to improve?
Thank you so much for all your feedback!

Hi there
Some of the darkness looks like possibly tarnish from a lock swinging from the Dee or Tirrette . Sometimes tarnish can be gently removed with a large soft pink eraser ✏️ like the kind for pencil marks; but if it’s been on there for a long time the leather might be permanently stained . The other marks look like stains . It’s possible that Spa might help however if these are set stains then you might get much improvement.
I hope that helps?
All the best and good luck

Hi
Without the bag in hand it is hard to say so I’m going to venture my guesses.

These could be post production scratches , or they could be present on the hide and then in the final product which is the leather.
If it’s the later possibility I would say quality control was not on par.
I hope that helps you ?

Thank you! I thought about bringing it to FSH to see what they can do. The spots are all over the bag and I'm assuming they are set. They appear to have seeped into the skin. 😢
Thank you again!

Hi - I purchased this bag from one of the Hermes boutiques in Madrid a few weeks ago. I pulled it out to use for the first time today and saw these white spots on the back. I gently wiped them with water and they temporarily disappeared. However, they reappeared once the area dried.

Any thoughts on what this might be and how to best address? I may take it to my local store but honestly don’t care enough to have them send it off to Paris or anything like that. It’s on the back of the bag and isn’t super noticeable in person. I think the bag was a display bag before I got it because it didn’t come with plastic on the hardware.

It might just be an unfortunate choice of words, but if you 'don't care enough' to have Hermes deal with a problem with a new bag,
why should a complete stranger give up their time to advise you?

Thought someone might have encountered the same sort of issue and might be able to easily suggest a remedy that wouldn’t involve me sending it to Paris for several months. 🤷‍♀️

I’ll just see myself out I guess. 🤣
