I just received my medium puffer in the black with silver hardware from Farfetch. No box or authentication card, I rang customer services and was told that YSL no longer do the these. Is this correct

Yes, I believe that is correct. I've bought most of my YSL bags in-store. They've stopped doing authenticity cards since a bit back.

However, it does appear that it depends on where the bag is sold and what year the bag was made. There are some people who buy bags from retailers like Neiman Marcus or online who still get an authenticity card. However, we are not sure if those are old stock from previous years or collections.
There should be a serial number somewhere in the bag. If there is an inner pocket most likely it's in there.

Hi
Thank you for your detailed reply, links were very useful.
This is my first purchase of YSL bag and a first with farfetch, so was a little unsure. The bag is beautiful and I’m looking forward to taking her out. Any tips on protecting the leather ? Can you spray it, or any tricks with protecting the corners ??

I have the puffer in the denim but I have heard that the puffer in the leather version is quite flexible and durable due to the leather they chose.

Personally I do not spray or treat any of my leather bags. If you use it on a semi-regular basis, the oils from your hands will help keep the leather "moisturized" and give it a natural protective coat on its own.

The only recommendation I would give it to not store it in the dust bag and box, but allow it to sit out, let the leather breath. As long as it's away from sunlight and humidity it should be fine.

I have an insert for my puffer bag which really helps keep it's overall shape but that's more of a preference since some people prefer their puffer bags to be a little more lived-in a slouchier.

Corner wear will eventually happen on bags over the years. Probably best not to do things like put it on the ground. Common sense sort of things.

There are many fans of the YSL leather puffer on this forum, so I'm sure there are threads talking about maintenance and upkeep for the bag. But overall, it appears to be quite carefree!

I got small loulou few weeks ago, I got it directly from YSL store (Germany) and it came with authenticity card. Production date on the card is also 2022. Maybe that is very recent. I am planning to get soon another ysl (toy puffer), I will pay attention if it will come with cards or not.

Update. Confirming again that the tiny black envelope with bag is just care info. There is a small slip of paper, but again that mainly identifies the type of bag, the year it was made, and other features.
There is only one section of the row of number on the white card that matches the middle section of the serial number inside the bag.
And none of my recipes match the serial number in the bag.
The serial number in the bag itself seems to be the only proof of authenticity for each particular bag.

I got the Lou Lou Camera from the YSL site. It was wonderfully packaged and had great presentation on arrival but there was no authenticity card. (US - California)

I got the phone holder bag from YSL store hamburg last saturday and i had no authenticity card or year card. Is it correct that YSL no longer give a year card / authenticity card ? Or its just my SA forgot to bring me that card?

Recently i call the ysl store , and the SA said that YSL is no longer give a year card or authenticity card, because there is a chip in every bag they sell.. and also they already save my purchased data on their system. But for booklet / care instruction card : i can ask the SA if i go back to the store. Please tell me your opinion?

This is really helpful to know, I did not know about this change. If there is no authenticity card then where will serial number be located in bag? I have wristlet and it seems like it is located front inside of it with additional leather piece sewn on it. Is this the usual case for most of YSL bag?

Hi Violina, i just wanna ask : have you ever contact YSL customer service and asking about the authenticity card? Or just keep the bag without the authenticity card?
