Do you think Louis Vuitton handbags are as popular as they once were?

Just wanted to get a discussion started and hear everyone’s opinions. For me, when I first started collecting, the details of the bags amazed me. Every stitch, including inside the bags, around the pockets, etc. were so neat and even that it literally made me go “wow” and appreciate the craftsmanship.

Especially the beautiful stitching on the vachetta trim, and the delicate line that bordered the stitching. You could count the number of stitches on a prominent feature and find that it would match the same area around the bag.

It was the small details like this. I feel like on new designs those small details are missing and the attention to detail isn’t there.

I am not saying the bags aren’t well made, but I feel like the “craftsmanship” is lacking.

For example, the classic Noe has so many intricate, beautiful details with lots of stitching and gorgeous vachetta, where the stitching would line up at intersections and would be evenly spaced.

What’s everyone else’s’ thoughts?

I agree, except I will always love LV. I have a couple of other brands but always go back to LV. That said, I have moved away from buying anything new and have been buying mostly vintage. I still am excited to see what I feel is heavier canvas, better linings and beautiful craftsmanship. I find myself on the hunt for rare pieces and I'm still thrilled when they arrive.

I can't say since I buy what I like and not what someone else likes. And this is not meant to be rude at all. I just never look at others for what I should buy. If I like it and can afford it, I just buy it. And I love LV, always have.

I 100% agree, over the past year I bought 5 bags, 2 were pre loved ( Maida in em leather and a DE Iena ) the quality was excellent, not a stitch out of place, recently I purchased online a loop hobo the zipper wouldn’t unzip without literally yanking on it and the bottom of the bag was crooked. I was disappointed in the quality for the price I paid ( I did return it and had it replaced with a non defective one ) more and more I’m reading that the quality just isn’t what it used to be or should be. I think more people are thinking twice before purchasing bags that might crack ( mono ) or have problems down the road and be subjected to exorbitant repair costs.

I live in an upper middle class suburb and only ever really see Neverfulls. Every once in a while I spot a different style. Always mono canvas. Except one time I saw the monoglam Neverfull in the wild! I was shocked lol. It’s weird bc we have an LV store….so where are all the other styles going?? I never see them here out and about.
