Do you still use bags that are 5 or 10 years old?

Of course. I have vintage Coach bags from when Coach was made in New York, and I still carry them. Conversely, I have very little from 5-10 years ago except for a Michael Kors.

Papertiger - what a gorgeous bag!

I tend to carry handbags that are on trend but not "it" bags. That being said, some bags are classics and can be worn "forever". An example is my black patent Chanel Jumbo single classic flap (SHW) that I actually wore today.

That being said, any bag that is well cared for, in good shape and compliments your outfit can and should be worn. No rules. Just bag love. 😊

I agree; I have some amazing purses I acquired from Colombia, a local brand called Velez. I've traveled just about everywhere with them and they are still so sturdy and "new" looking! I think it's just all about the quality of the materials.

absolutely! I tend to buy more timeless bags, and I have amassed quite the collection of the past decade or so. I never sell my bags, and plan to keep these around for quite some time.

Wow - the green one on top is amazing. Impossible to place in terms of age.

Love all of your bags, especially the Gucci! And I love how you photographed them, beautiful!

Thank you so much ladies for your lovely words :flowers: All of these pics are fairly recent.

and I agree, a thing of beauty well cared for is a thing of beauty forever.

My older bags seem to have better quality than my newer bags. I have bags that are 8 years old and still look new.

This has been noted as something tangible, there is a thread on it somewhere (on this forum) about it.

Classic!!!

I LOVE all your oldie bags!
I think I'll have to arrange a photoshoot for my older bags - the eldest in my collection was born in my hometown around 55 years ago! I still cherish my soon-a-decade-old custom Le Pliage and almost 9 yrs old Mulberry Flight which were the first bigger splurges I ever made. When we moved last spring, I found a Kipling backpack I've had since I was a teenager. That's 20 yrs ago. It's still in perfect condition and I'm looking forward to carrying it again next summer! :smile1:
Many times, a bag's charm isn't in the way it looks, it's in the feeling the bag evokes in me. Some bags I've had for a long time, some have spent most of their life in someone else's care until they found a new home with me. I do like a crisp, new bag (who doesn't?) but an oldie is always different; I love the scuffs and patina, makes me want to carry the bag - get it involved in my life and not baby it. Continue the bag's story, so to say.

Great bags, guys. I loooove my "old" bags and I agree 100% that they don't make them like they used to. Correction: they do, if you pay 5x what you used to.

I tend to lean more towards timeless bags, than what's in the cover of Vogue today and gone tomorrow, so I have bags that are up to 15+ years old and look like they could have been bought anytime.

On the same token, there are bags that have had their "moment" and are former "it" bags that I still love, wear and will buy if I see one I like, like the Chloe Bracelet bag. I just got a gorgeous golden one recently.

I guess I like what I like and don't really care whether they're still "in" or not. You'll see me at 102 with my 60 year old Valentino rockstud kitten heels and my 75 year old leopard Fendi Baguette hanging from my walker lol

Anyone else still loves and wears any of their former "it" bags?

The closest thing I have to an 'it' bag is this Botkier, they were pretty popular in their time. It's really small and I put a new strap on it so I can wear it as a crossbody. It probably looks pretty dated but I'll wear it all the time. My daughter thinks its ugly and says it looks like it has boobs. It sorta does.
