I wouldn’t put the 19 in this category just yet, mostly because of its slightly lower price point, but also agree with you I love Chanel CFs and don’t love other brands (other than Dior certain styles) as much. But at the same time I’ve been so incredibly put of by their price increases, and I don’t mean because its more expensive to buy, but the fact that I now need to think twice every time I want to carry it out (different with Hermès as they are much more understated). Handbags are supposed to be fun. Also thought it was incredibly insensitive to put the prices they did during the pandemic.
Great point! I agree with you. It should not be stressful to carry your bag especially when you have spent thousands of dollars.

I wear mine out and I’m actually one of the few people who thinks Chanel classic flap isn’t all that flashy compared to other brands. If I just put the cc turn lock hidden against me then I doubt anyone would even care to notice. My thinking is more of like “Is it worth it for the bag to go through the weather and take a beating?” So I usually don’t take it out when it’s raining. Lol!

I feel the same way - even though I bought my CF six years back when it didn't cost this much, I feel uncomfortable carrying something that is just so expensive. I used to use it quite often but now I feel people would judge me as someone who is spending a crazy amount of money on a bag. Besides, it could also be a target even though I live in Singapore which is fairly safe.
I take it out only for special occasions now!

I use my WOCs more as they seem fuss-free and not so dressy. Recently purchased the black caviar classic WOC so that I have something low-key (relatively!) for travel, errands, coffee etc...

Medium CF is my favorite style in Chanel, along with the small/medium trendy cc, so I tend to just buy these 2 styles in various colors, and I wear them whenever an outfit calls for them, which is almost always since my wardrobe and personal preference is on the dressier side (don’t own a single pair of jeans, no atheleisure unless I’m actually going to a workout).

I live in an area where there are tons of LV never fulls at grocery stores and gas stations, so I don’t really think my CF stands out that much, as most people have no clue how much CFs are now.

I started buying CFs when they were $6800, and have gotten them at the $7800 and $8800 price points. I carry CFs to the grocery store, to pick up takeout, to shopping, and when I travel. I don’t really care if other people have an opinion about what kind of money I spend on bags, I work hard and therefore play hard.

I'm in London. I like you don't go shopping much anymore. I have jumbos not carried one in close to a year maybe. Other one not for 2-3 yrs. I use caviar jumbo for travel/flights. I use other chanels regularly (mini, boy) though but like to mix it up a little with other not as glaringly expensive bags for reasons already mentioned. Got a very well made polene bag a year ago. So easy to carry.

Chanel flap? No. Not really. Only to a few dinners and some business meetings. That's about it.

I carry my Louis Vuitton a lot though. Monogram canvas vintage ones, they are indestructible.

Now that you've asked this question, no, I haven't seen many Chanel flaps around my neighborhood either. I guess ppl's wardrobe have changed quite a bit since the pandemic. And there are many ppl struggling so I'm more aware of my surroundings. I guess others around me feel the same way.

On the other hand, whenever I walk by a Chanel boutique, yes, I notice a lot of ppl BUYING Chanel. Not just bags, but watches, shoes, RTW...etc.

has this changed since the pandemic or due to recent rises? I used to see them around so often, the underground, grocery stores, gyms, but now it seems as though I only see it in luxury stores or online.

The fact that they are now on the radar for robbery and theft is pretty scary.
Hmm, maybe a little? I still see them out and about, mostly grocery shopping, lol because that's what I do when I run errands (buy food!).
