I have always liked big important jewellery! I love Bvlgari for this reason but lately have been craving more dainty pieces for some reason.

Certainly what you wear dictates which look best.

It depends on what I'm wearing and a lot on my nail polish. I find that when I have a french manicure I wear my more dainty stuff as opposed to when I wear bold colors..

I have both, but much more bold jewelry, especially necklaces. I feel there's a time and a place for both types, and sometimes, after wearing big necklaces, a dainty, simple one is a refreshing change--or, I'm in a hurry to get dressed, and don't have time to choose and coordinate the statement pieces.

When I was much heavier (years and years ago), I found I could wear big necklaces, though I'm short. When I lost 80lbs, I thought they looked weird on me, hence my dainty jewelry collection. Now, even though I haven't really re-gained much weight, but am much older, and have built up my shoulder area through housework and constant home improvements, it's back to the big guys AGAIN! You'd think petite women would look better in small-scale jewelry, but I suppose that depends on your frame-size. Helena Rubinstein (of the make-up fame) was shorter than me (she was under 5ft), and she's quoted as saying, because she was small, big jewels suited her better! BTW, do a search on her collection of baubles and how she stored them--some amazing stuff, and tons of it! I don't think she wore costume jewelry at all, so I imagine any photos of her wearing jewels show the good stuff!
