Do you get offered champagne while shopping?

When I shop at designer stores (and purchase) I get asked if I want still or sparkling water, I don’t get asked if I want champagne. Is this something you need to ask for? Is this something that happens only if you’re a repeat customer for a SA?

I think it is dependent on the SA. I believe some SAs are embarrassed to offer champagne or are unsure if the customer drinks alcohol. We shop at South Coast and although we shop there a lot, we often see others offered champagne. Even when making big purchases, we don’t get offered champagne just water. If we see others and are being offered water but in the mood, we usually say can we have what they are having and point to people with champagne. Lol.

Yes, most of the time. But we have well established relationships with our SAs and stores. They know us and our tastes.
Adding onto that, there are a couple that offer espresso which is something I have been preferring more recently.

When we shop at Cartier, our SA knows us, and he usually offers us champagne. He is a fun guy that knows we love champagne. Honestly, I think it is SA dependent. Usually the more conservative the SA, the less likely he or she will offer you champagne, assuming they even offer it at the store.

After I have purchased an item, I’ll say something like, “We should celebrate with champagne!” Usually the SA will respond, “We have champagne, would you like some?” I never want to act entitled and I always want to give the SA some wiggle room if she forgot or if they don’t have any to ptovide.

If I've been offered Champagne in a shop I always turn it down.
I don't like drinking alcohol in a boutique environment it feels a little bit false somehow (hard to put into words my exact feeling)
I do accept water however but only if I'm thirsty.
I don't feel the need for a 'reward' of free alcohol just because I'm in a shop or making a purchase I prefer to drink it in a venue of my choosing in the company of friends and loved ones.
I've a friend who works in a premier designer boutique on Bond St and he told me her dreads Saturdays because they get many people in the store trying things on, (shoes, rtw, accessories) asking for champagne then not buying anything.
I wouldn't have the nerve!

We don’t always accept it, but yeah if we are in the mood and they offer it why not. Usually when we accept we are not being rewarded, just enjoying ourselves. I drink socially, at parties, at restaurants and bars, even at home to relax. I actually really enjoy champagne, especially since I am allergic to red wines. We are out with girlfriends hanging out for a day who live 1-2 hours away depending on traffic (so we don’t see each other daily), relaxing, not stressing about work, or the kids, etc. Sometimes, we are on a girl’s getaway or on vacation. We are having a girls day out which usually includes doing what we enjoy…. shopping (we are closet shopaholics who sometimes keep each other in check) and dinner, a trip to a museum, bar, etc. It is a fun day out. To each his own.

I never accept champagne in a retail environment either, I like to remain clear headed and know what I am spending. if I just made a large purchase I may accept tea or water - alcohol is for later when we go to a bar or something. It’s ridiculous to Go to a shop for the ´free’ alcohol how low can you get?? I am sorry that your friend has to put up with this kind of behaviour.
