I just got my LV bellevue and in Australia we are approaching the winter season. I initially had planned to get a bag that contained no vanchetta, such as the wilshire mm but none the less i figured bellevue was and is the one i always wanted.. the only thing that put me off were the handles. Now im not too sure if i got my louis in the wrong season where i cannot take it out as much because we're getting alot of rain here and there isnt much sun lately. Do most people keep their lvs hidden away in winter because of possible damage to the vanchetta? or do u use it all year round rain or shine? Also, a question about the vernis, in the little booklet it says to keep away from heat and direct sunlight, I have mine in amarante- would this colour possibly suffer discolouration if i leave it in direct sunlight? Or are lighter vernis colours more vulnerable to sunlight? Also, in keeping it away from heat- does that mean u cant really use it on really hot days?

In winter all my Vachetta bags tend to remain in snuggled up at home but in the s/s all my bags see the light of day! I dont worry about the direct sunlight too much as our summers are quite crappy and not that hot anyway!
I would use the amarante in the winter I think its a great colour for A/W

ITA im using my vachetta bags to the full now we are in summer months :)

I live in one of the wettest, rainiest, foggiest, snowiest places on the planet! Even in summer we get lots of rain! and I use my LV bags all year round. I have multicolore, epi, mono and ebene and they all get used and all still look great!

I carry my Vachetta bags all year round. On rainy days I will tuck them in a tote when I am going from the car to my office. If it is pouring out I will usually opt for a Damier Ebene or Epi bag.

Vachetta can be exposed to sun and summer temps. I would not leave it in a hot car or just sitting in the sun...but then again I wouldn't do that to any bag.

Do u worry about ur vanchetta? Because my bellevue is new, i gues im a little bit more worried because i think it's more vulnerable when its new? Hmmm.. i really dont want to store it away til like september or whenever spring/summer comes back for us here... lol
I used it last week day after i got it and lucky for me it didnt rain... the past week the weather has been so unpredictable here.. its hot and cold at the same time- terrible

I have found that first when rain hits the vachetta it instantly turns very dark, but if I just leave it and not try to wipe it off it just dries up in a minute and leaves no mark at all. I have found that what people usually call water spots are actually caused by other things because the water doesn't leave marks.

that's interesting- i actually thought the water marks/water spots were actually from water...
I did spill water over my amazone once on the leather trimming, but because my one is pretty patina'ed, it did dry up with no marks after i patted it dry... i guess with new vanchetta im just not sure... and dont want to risk it and end up regretting ever taking my baby out

Yes. I actually do not carry not LV bags when the weather drops below 45 degrees. I find the extreme cold weather freezes the canvas and makes it stiff. I am sure if it is exposed for a prolonged period to cold, the canvas would eventually crack.

Instead, I use my cloth GUCCI bags during the winter.

I don't think you have to worry about the cold cracking the canvas. Us Canadians carry our LV in winter in well below 0 degrees! The kind of cold that hurts your lungs, makes your eyes stick when you blink and you have to keep your car plugged in in order for it to start! LOL I am not joking, when I lived in Alberta it was that cold in the winter and I took may LV bags out all the time and never had a problem, so I'm not sure how cold it would have to get to crack the canvas but I don't think you will have a problem in the U.S.
