Well I ended up getting a 1.5 ct moissante for my water ring/beach. I live 20 mins from galveston so we go there a lot. Its also fun just to have something different to spice it up a little. I wore it for one day and found it made me appreciate my gorgeous wedding set details even more...also mine looked bigger when I put it back on haha. The moissantie stone is stunning though...its a true beauty. .. esp outside. Here are some pics

I have a fake set.. And either bring smaller pieces or fake/costume... I don't trust the property safes 100% either.. so The less i worry about on vacation, the happier and more relaxed i am.. People say.. As long as it's insured, who cares? True.. But filing a claim is a PITA and personally, i am just not willing to go through all that just to wear my ring on a beach while on vacation...

If I'm going somewhere I don't feel comfortable, I just wear my plain gold band. I don't really care if people think I don't have an ER.
I would never bring an expensive piece of jewellery on vacation - having something insured is one thing, but it's another to have to go through the headache of filing a claim and having a new ring built. Imagine how heartbroken you would be if something happened to your engagement ring which on vacation - why take the risk?
On occasion we have built a silver and CZ 'travel' ring at the same time as we have built the actual engagement ring - if you don't want to leave your engagement ring at home, a faux-ring ring is the best solution.
I only take silver jewellery with me when I travel because who hasn't heard the horror stories - it means to much to me to take the risk of disappearing.

Where did you get yours from? I need to get a stand-in ring for my upcoming travels, but I haven't found anything that I like. I don't want a big fake set because I specfically don't want to attract attention. I'm traveling around Siberia doing data collection on my own & no way in hell would I consider wearing my real e-ring on this trip. It's staying in a safety deposit box while I'm gone.
Even with insurance there's no way I'd want anything to happen to my ring--I love it. I'd be devastated to lose it.
There is a store in the same building as my salon and he often gets closeouts and stuff.. N he happened to get a shipment of cz engagement rings with wedding band.. Stone is realistic size.. and of course, i can choose to just wear the band...Perfect for travel.
Get a ring that is low enough in cost that if something happens to it, you will not be too sad to see it go, but at the same time you like wearing it. You can probably find something at a department store sale. I agree safety deposit box is the way to go. Have a good trip.
I wear a plain yellow gold Love ring stacked with my wedding band when on holidays. I don.t want to risk losing my ER or have it stolen and don't care if people think I don't have an ER. Most people that I see on holidays seem to leave their engagement ring home...
Thank you, that's exactly what I ended up doing. I got a ring with three small diamonds and it's understated but something that I'll definitely wear again as a right hand ring when I get back to the U.S.
I miss my real engagement ring already! I waited until the day I left the country to put it in the safety deposit box.
Different people do different things. I used to rarely wear mine, but then I honestly got tired of being hit on at the grocery store and other random places. And I realized that my not wearing my ring seemed like some sort of signal that I was willing to step out?! Even with my son men would say some ridiculous things to me. Strangely enough I rarely got that kind of attention when I was single.
My husband rarely wears his because it interferes with his work.
To answer OP's question, I just wear a plain band when I'm traveling or at the beach or whatever. Actually I prefer a plain band most of the time.
