Until recently, I have not owned any purple or Lavender bags. I love pink and am usually always drawn to pink which is why i have numerous pink bags (mostly light pink or with light pink accent but a couple bright pink too). When I was in Paris in September I popped into the Givenchy store very quickly and a display of sharklock boots and mini antigona lock bag in a Beautiful lavender color immediately caught my eye. I kept thinking about and regretted not buying (I was in a rush to get to the Dior museum that day lol).... so much that I welt back to Paris for one day to purchase when I was in Amsterdam n November and realized they didn't have a store in Amsterdam.

Since then I have used several times and am still in love with this color. I ended up ordering the lavender 4g slides and card holder l, a few sweaters, and even a pair of Uggs and birkinstocks in very similar color. When i was at the boutique, the very kind SA "surprised" me by going downstairs and setting up a display for me of all the Lavender items they had. He suggested the 4g bag instead and while I considered it for a moment, I was set on the antigona lock (I think bc I had it in my mind for so long).

Well, I just stumbled access the bag and it's on sale! At the same time, I really wanted to prove that I could do a bag buying ban after buying so much last year. I don't want to feel like I fell off the wagon so soon. But My gut is taking me to snatching it up at this price before color no longer available and I regret it, but do I really need 2 bags in this color. Are they different enough? Help TPF friends!

Not counting my black bags, I currently have a small shoulder and a tote bag in the same color. Like you, I was concerned that color may not always be available, and the styles were different so I got them.

I have 2 H bags in the same colour. At the time it was unusual to find any green, but actually, as greens come and go, I see that a perfect shade of any colour is really hard to find. Black is black, and neutrals can be close but colours, tones and shades of colours have to be spot on (at least for me).

I don't normally enable, I can totally understand your hesitation, but If you love, love this colour make it your signature and go for it.

I think this colour is really versatile and all year round.
For 24 trend it can be worn colour-blocked with brights and/or dark shades.
You can go near ice with white, silver, cool grey and underscore with black or near black
Brighten up bronzes, mustards, gold, camel or beige for Fall
You can Spring itself with light greens
Or like a sugar almond bag with pinks and light pastels.
The possibilities are endless.

The bags look like they would serve different purposes. I think if you love it and haven't been able to get it out of your mind, you should go for it!
Would you mind sharing with me how you feel these bags would serve different purposes? I am having trouble seeing it - other than justifying that I like both LOL

Yesterday, it seemed like a no-brainer to snatch this up at the sale price but this morning I feel slightly mad at myself for not being able to stick to a bag ban ever and feel like if I can always justify and buy whatever I want like I always do, it defeats the purpose. That being said, I talked myself out of a few other bags I was on the fence about so am proud of that. And I don't have any 4g bags (or too many bags of this style overall). I have so many bags in many colors (lots of pink, green, blues, neutrals) if I was going to get a 4g bag - no color in particular makes sense anyway as there is no gap/need for a specific color so why not double up on the lavender I think is such a pretty shade. And if I ever feel like being super matchy-matchy, I already have the lavender 4g slides and cardholder. Sorry can't tell if I'm trying to talk myself out of or into this :panic:

Idk. I say this as someone in the market for a lavender bag right now: I can't imagine owning enough lavender to need two lavender Givenchy bags. Don't get me wrong: I'm not saying there isn't room in my (or anyone's) closet for two lavender bags, or two Givenchy bags. But I feel like I'd probably get someone else's lavender bag before getting the exact same color in a different style from the same brand.

But that's just the logical side of it. You seem to really like both the bag itself and the color. That alone is enough of a reason to own two! If you are able to afford them both and enjoy them both, I see no reason not to. As for your ban, that's really your call. I hate setting hard and fast blanket rules ("I will absolutely not buy a single bag") for pretty much this exact reason.

So really, you just have to decide how much you love the bag.

Thanks. I have never attempted to set a ban for myself and I did so allowing some "hall passes" just to be realistic. Although the hall passes were supposed to apply to specific bags, i think I can make an exception given the good deal on this bag. What lavender bags have you looked at/ narrowed it down to?

Well, now you've got me thinking Givenchy, but I was actually looking at the Celine Teen Triomphe.

That is beautiful too! I guess it depends if you want shw or ghw. In my case since I have the shark lock boots, I want the shw to match. But that Celine is

ETA: Celine triomphe is one of very few bags left on my current wish list, problem being that it comes in many beautiful colors and hard for me to decide on one that I "need" bc nearly every color similar to a bag (or several) I have. I have the same issue with the BV teen jodie.

This shouldn’t give you so much anxiety. Sadly, TPF is enabler central. It’s just not healthy to obsess about handbags like this. You know deep down you shouldn’t buy it. Trust your gut.

I appreciate that but my gut is actually telling me I SHOULD buy it. I realize the obsession overall may not be " normal " but I'm not really having anxiety over it, I simply wanted to prove I could go without buying. But at the end of the day, I can afford it, would use it, and would likely regret not taking advantage of the sale more than I would regret the purchase. And honestly, in my case, the bag ban a joke bc I'm just blowing $$$$$ on other things like jewelry, RTW, etc. so what I truly need is an overall shopping ban! Appreciate you being the voice of reason!

I’m really not wishing to be an enabler but here’s how i see it. It depends on why you’re on a ban and how long you’re intending to be on it for. I don’t see the point in restricting yourself if 1) you want the bag 2) you can afford it 3) you know you’ll have regret and 4) you’ll buy it in six months anyway! And if you’ve found it on sale, bonus.

I have bags in the same colour (‘tan’) but all are different styles. The 4g and Antigona are completely different.

P.S, I’m on day 30 of a self imposed six month ban! It’s a habit that’s hard to break.

Congrats! I have techhnically surpassed to 30 day mark as I snuck in a purchase on Dec 31 before I was supposed to be trying a ban for the entire year of 2024 (have never tried a ban before). Main reason being I bought so many bags in 2023 its ridiculous. I have more bags than anyone could possibly ever need in just about every brand, color, size and style - and the truth is that although I'm making a point to use them all, they get very little use bc i work from home and sometimes don't even leave my house for days at a time. I am not married or dating where I'm going out to nice dinners and events all the time and noone I know cares what bag you have so I just buy for my own enjoyment.

I've always been a shopaholic, even as a teen, but its gotten a bit out of control lately. Last year, I splurged on several bags at price points beyond what I ever thought I'd spend (e.g. Dior not Hermes) then went on a major spree when I was in Europe in November and I swore that was going to be it for awhile. Unfortunately, my mindset has been a few grand here and there is no big deal but when added up, I literally could have had a new roof on my house, a new car, a nice chunk towards daughter's college, etc. It isn't just the bags, I recently purchased a piece of jewelry and a one of a kind table at a jewelry and antique show - both Insanely expensive impulse buys that weren't expected or necessary. But I had zero buyer's remorse.

Sometimes I think I could never imagine spending the money done do on an H bag, but truth is I've spent more only I've justified it bc it's distributed over a variety of bags. My warped mindset is that $2 k is an inexpensive bargain when in reality its also a mortgage payment.

If it's on sale, and in limited stock, I usually decide quickly. I've made many purchase recently like this, and even bought multiples. They weren't bags though.

It is a beautiful color and it always draws my eye when i see it on someone.
