You know, I recently bought a new s.u.v.Tragic news. A few days after I posted this I was using my Bolide and noticed the leather on the handles had separated from the glazing! I am so sad. I am going to take to back to Hermes to see what they can do but now I am even more afraid to use it![]()
A bolide, classic flap and speedy!! So nice !!!!! Please keep your bags and use them. Banish this lifestyle thought. Even if you are out on a casual day with kids, prepare the bolide the night before and in the morning just grab and go. Do the same the next day with the classic flap and so on...I am stuck at what to do, very conflicted. I have trimmed down my luxury bag collection to four bags. I love all my bags so much but I find that my Tote gets the most use. I use it every day for work and am finding I am using it a lot outside of work because I don’t go out much and I have two kids and it is convenient to just grab it and go.
My problem is my other three bags are just sitting there. Mind you I don’t want to use my Hermes Bolide and Chanel Classic flap too much as I want them to last the rest of my life and being only in my early 40s I’m hoping that will be a long time. My speedy B I use now and then especially when I need to be hands free it is perfect.
I also want a really nice leather bag I can use all the time, maybe another tote as my current tote is canvas. That being said I am wondering if I should just get rid of the Bolide, Classic Flap and Speedy and get a nice leather bag that can work multiple ways. I tend to like to use one bag for long, long periods of time especially if it works for my lifestyle. I love my luxury bags but I wonder if the money is going to waste having them just sit there. I am also not a wealthy person my bags were purchased with some money I inherited. I don’t need the money or anything I just have kids (one with a disability) and I think the money could be better spent. I just am afraid if I sell them I may never get them again.
Thanks for reading my novel.
That is what Hermès is for. This happened with a Birkin for me...they should fix gratis. But it should be like iron after.Tragic news. This is wonderful advice. One thing many of us do not consider is we don’t know what our “lifetime” is going to be. It could end today or tomorrow. Or the quality of our life or of someone we love could be so radically changed that handbags have no meaning, value or use whatsoever. I want to squeeze every bit of use out of my lovely bags as I can. And if and when they wear out , or I do, they will have been enjoyed. You say you don’t use your bags because you want them to last a lifetime. A bag you buy at Walmart will last a lifetime if you put it on a shelf and leave it there... the point of luxury items lasting a long time is that they do so despite use. Your Bolide is a workhorse and you can take it to Hermes for refurbishment as needed. Just grab it and go!
+ 1You know, I recently bought a new s.u.v.
And drove it.
Found some things were loose/wrong.
So took it dealer. Fixed.
Probably more stuff will get dirty, come loose, require replacement during use.
Especially if some fool slams into it, whilst mixing cocktails & updating his/her fb status on roadway.
Planning multi-state trek with dog & gear, now.
As vehicle cost way more than my bolide, maybe should leave in garage & walk?
Seriously, fear exists.
And most everything we fear dies, when given no power to direct our lives.
Use the bags.
Well said.Don't sell them. You have the best of all three worlds. Why sell something special to buy nothing special?
You just stated the reason to keep all your bags. 6 months for them to fix! You need back ups! (nice ones at that!)I took my bag into Hermes they are going to fix the handles and they suspect there will be no charge but they have to send it to Paris before they can confirm that. I will be without it for up to six months though. By then I will be so happy to have it back I will probably use it quite a bit.
