Do I need all these Luxury Bags or should I sell them all?

I am stuck at what to do, very conflicted. I have trimmed down my luxury bag collection to four bags. I love all my bags so much but I find that my Tote gets the most use. I use it every day for work and am finding I am using it a lot outside of work because I don’t go out much and I have two kids and it is convenient to just grab it and go.

My problem is my other three bags are just sitting there. Mind you I don’t want to use my Hermes Bolide and Chanel Classic flap too much as I want them to last the rest of my life and being only in my early 40s I’m hoping that will be a long time. My speedy B I use now and then especially when I need to be hands free it is perfect.

I also want a really nice leather bag I can use all the time, maybe another tote as my current tote is canvas. That being said I am wondering if I should just get rid of the Bolide, Classic Flap and Speedy and get a nice leather bag that can work multiple ways. I tend to like to use one bag for long, long periods of time especially if it works for my lifestyle. I love my luxury bags but I wonder if the money is going to waste having them just sit there. I am also not a wealthy person my bags were purchased with some money I inherited. I don’t need the money or anything I just have kids (one with a disability) and I think the money could be better spent. I just am afraid if I sell them I may never get them again.

Thanks for reading my novel.

Unless money is a super tight issue, I'd keep them. Once you get over that metaphorical hump that's stopping you from grabbing the Bolide, CF and Speedy, you'll be happy you kept them!.

Another reason I wouldn't bother selling them now is you'll never get close to retail for the Bolide or Speedy, so instead of losing money on them, why not use and enjoy them!

I wouldn't worry about using the H - when the time comes, send it to the H spa!

Goodluck.

It doesn't sound like you are ready yet to get rid of these bags. If you do not need the money, give yourself some time to decide. You don't say how old your children are, but do you think these bags will get more use when they are older? You have some classic bags that will not go out of style, so even though you are not using them now, you may want to in the future. I agree that with price increases, etc., they will probably be harder to replace.

Having said that, I did rehome a lot of my bags last year. My lifestyle has changed because I am now retired, and I did feel that there was a lot of money in my closet that could be put to better use. But, I was ready to do this, and I have not looked back. I now only have three LVs and some contemporary bags that I am content with for now.

Someone said in one of the forums that they feel like they have bags for their fantasy life and not their real life, lol. I think because we love handbags, a lot of us are like that to some extent.

yes if you sell your bags be prepared to say goodbye to them forever.
How big is your CF and it’s color? I’m inclined to say sell it if it’s a jumbo, just because it can get heavy and can be very noticeable, which doesn’t sound like is your lifestyle. I would use the bolide, it’s a classic and fuss free.
why don’t you set yourself a 6-12months rule, use the bags and see how you feel?
Your feelings towards the bag may also become much clearer when you know which tote bag to get.
I think every woman, mum or not should have a bit of something for themselves, whether it’s bags, jewels, regular visit to hair salons, holidays...

It doesn’t sound like the bags don’t fit your lifestyle, but that you are a bit scared to use them for fear of ruining them.

Not sure what leather your classic flap is in but the other bag styles you have are not as delicate as you think. Hermes is made to last a lifetime and you can always send it to the bag spa whenever you feel it needs it. LV very durable and carefree. And your Chanel, if it is in caviar is also a very low maintenance bag. Don’t be scared to use them, life is short so you should start enjoying them all!

What I do with all my bags is I think-- if I sold this bag, would I want to rebuy it, and if I did want to rebuy it, could I? For example, with my jumbo, I know I would want it in the future and have decided to hold on to it, especially because I bought it for about 2k and would not be willing to buy it again at current prices. For other pieces, like my woc, I sold because I knew I do not want it long term.

it wasn't me who said that but I feel like this every day. Though I'm sure that the day when I use (all) my bags will come and I'd regret then not having them as the prices are crazy already.

Your bags are all super classics, and since you only have 4 I would not let them go. There were technically gifted to you since the money was inherited and you chose the items very well. Why not just let go of the tote you currently use and get the leather tote instead. They are definitely holding money since they are not being used, but unless you have immediate need for those funds I would hold on to them a bit longer (and use them for errands. Why not?!). Maybe when you stop working or your kids get older those bags will be used more and you'll be glad you kept them.

I think you should keep them, personally, unless you need the cash now. As others have mentioned, you own classics. I own LV and Chanel and because of the price increases from both brands, I highly suggest keeping them. If in a few years you do decide to let the go and they are in good condition, you may actually sell them for a profit. I sold my LV Bloomsbury for $350 more than I originally purchased it for. Whereas if you sell now and regret it, you'll end up paying more for it later on.

Besides, I don't think it's necessary to use everything you own constantly. Some bags are suited for special occasions, and that's okay. If in a year or two you haven't used something, though, probably a good sign to let it go.

Do you still love them? If so, then keep them and try to use them more. I don’t go out as much as I used to, and my job is very casual, but I sometimes get all dressed up and carry my beloved Delvaux Tempete just because, and I love those days. That said, my style has changed over the years and a number of bags I had just five years ago seem very dated and fussy. I generally prefer softer, unstructured styles now, and logos are the devil. If the styles aren’t really you any more, then I would say goodbye, provided you can sell them for a reasonable amount.

And I know you didn’t ask this, but for a fabulous leather tote, I recommend the Fendi Anna Selleria. It’s no longer in stores, but can be found preloved.
