Do Helen Kaminski, raffia “straw” hats keep their shape?

Bark was exactly the color I was thinking of!

Oh that’s great. I really like bark. It’s a warm color I think fits more as tan mixed with well I guess the color of bark. It could pass as sort of a gray hat but I was looking for something more true gray. There are so many versions gray/grey (it even has two ways to spell it). maybe cement would be a good way to describe it.

I want to thank all of you for helping me decide about my hat. I decided to keep it and am very happy with that decision. I called Helen Kaminsky and had a long conversation with the person that answered the phone. Very friendly. Very helpful. And very honest. I include the honest characteristic because they weren’t trying to sell me anything, and they reassured me that the hat that I got from Nordstrom‘s would be just as perfect as the one I would get from them directly. They were fine that I didn’t get the hat from them and they spent a long time talking to me about my concerns. She even called one of the managers because I had a question she couldn’t answer, and she called me back later in the day with the answer. Amazing. I feel very good about that company, and will buy directly from them in the future.

Glad to hear you had such a positive interaction with the company! I find that customer service is not great anymore, so it’s awesome there are still some companies that value it.

As promised, below is a photo of my HK hat that will turn 27 this year. I also included a photo of my EJ hat since they’re stored nested in the same container. While my EJ hat doesn’t include the materials, I did check one at Nordstrom yesterday and those are from man-mad fibers.7B56A831-0FB0-480D-84D5-6C9547DC042E.jpegCB24F0F0-51B2-42BA-8F26-3A44773D7E2E.jpeg

Thank you for taking the time to get those out and photograph them and post them. They’re really nice hats!
They both look brand new. So it’s really nice to know that a natural fiber can last so long.

Thank you! I’ll admit I don’t wear them too often, but I am quite surprised at how well the HK has held up given the natural straw. The EJ is much newer (maybe four, or five, years old?).
