They have premium packaging and they're very expensive:

How do they compare with La Prairie and La Mer?

I used la prairie for a while & it made no difference to my skin. Was pretty disappointed tbh
Me too. As my dermatologist once said, cosmetic companies "are selling hope in a bottle."

Best advice ever received was from a homeopathic doctor who came to California in a covered wagon (really). He told my grandmother to stay out of the sun--that it was poison.

So, stay out of the sun, eat well, drink lots and lots of water, and exercise (sweat removes debris) and your skin will look beautiful. No need for soaps, cleaners, facials, Prairie or clea de anything . . .

Looking at the ingredient list of for example that Clé de Peau Beauté Serum, it has Alcohol Denat. as the third ingredient so it may be quite drying. Fragrance is also quite high on the list so it may not suit sensitive skin. One of the key ingredients seems to be Saccharomyces Ferment Lysate Filtrate, which is a popular cosmetics ingredient made by fermenting and filtering yeast. This ingredient can be found for example in many k-beauty cosmetics for a fraction of the price in higher concentrations.

Taking a look at another product, the Clé de Peau Beauté La Crème, it's definitely high in irritants so probably not a great match for sensitive skin. Many Shiseido products will have a similar formulation. The moisturizing and softening ingredients higher up on the very long ingredients list are very basic and can be found in any cheap and effective cream from the drugstore; glycerin, squalane, petrolatum, shea butter. The claims of youthfulness are likely linked to the ingredient retinyl acetate, which has medium effectiveness on the scale of retinols - you'll find plenty that are more effective. Of course this formulation will likely feel very cosmetically elegant (but personally I'd go for effectiveness over elegance).

Based on the ingredient list I don't think it's worth the price but then again if you appreciate the luxury experience, these will keep you moisturized and add that layer of luxury branding and elegance. No shame if that's your thing.

I've tried the whole luxury skin spectrum (La Mer, CdP, La Roche Posay, Augustinus Bader, Biologique Recherche, and more). My conclusion is there is no brand that makes "the best" everything...there's usually a *star product* from each line. It's about mixing and matching from various brands to compose a routine suitable for your skin type and concerns. That being said, if a brand is innately more appealing to you for whatever reason (brand/fragrance/packaging), it will encourage you to use the product more consistently=better results. For example, I love the La Mer scent and find myself reaching for it the most whereas my Biologique Recherche products went unused bc the smell/texture was off-putting.

What are the star products from each brand CDP, La Prairie and La Mer?

I did a Google search La Roche Posay is good for sunscreens. Biologique Recherche is used in Spas as a facial treatment.

Anthelios is a highly regarded sunscreen & many different formulas & coverage levels. Its my favorite
Biologique Recherche is lotion P50 (different strengths) & one has to get use to the scent
La Mer gets high marks for their serum & cream
CdP creams & foundation are popular
I'm not a La Prairie user so can't comments but is a popular line as well

Agree with everything. Been using La Mer for around 10 years. Soft cream in summer and the traditional cream in winter. Love CdP sunscreen and concealer.

In addition to those brands, I would highly recommend Sunday Riley Good Genes (lactic acid serum treatment), EltaMD sunscreen, and Paula's Choice BHA liquid exfoliant treatment. I think luxury cleanser is a waste of money so I get one from Sephora instead that does a fabulous job- Youth to the People kale superfood cleanser.

Read somewhere that every 7 seconds a bottle of Paula's Choice BHA is sold..
