Do bag/purse feet matter?

On satchels I like them because I set the bag down on a chair or table. On a cross body I do not need it as I hang it from the strap.

I think I prefer satchels to have feet. I have a light colored mini satchel without feet. I don't put it down just anywhere, but I was surprised to find dirt marks at the bottom. Then I remembered that I stayed at an old house for the weekend and it is possible that the desk I put it down to was dusty.
