I ordered a Dinky in the haircalf from the last outlet sale. I got the orange tiger stripe one but it didn't look like the stock photo! The stock photo has stripes going horizontal but mine is vertical. Anyone else have this bag? Which way are the stripes going? I'm thinking I'll return the one I have because I really wanted it to be horizontal like the photo. Bummed because it was a great price!

Sometimes they change a style after they make the stock photo so the actual item is different. From what I can tell from those that have been listed on ebay, they all have stripes going vertical. The only pictures I see with horizontal stripes are stock photos. There is one stock photo that has vertical stripes. When they use haircalf, they have to place it so the haircalf grain goes the right direction, so it is possible it got printed a different direction than they expected.
Oh so they AREN'T the same bag after all! I was wondering why they showed the same pic of the tiger bag in different prices!! I'm glad I didn't order it too as I would've been disappointed like you. Can you post a photo? I'm curious to see how different they look.
I found it interesting that the online outlet had the haircalf dinky in their last sale AND the Coach shows it on their site, too, but at different price points. They are the same item # but just an "F" in front of it for the outlet. I will take a photo tomorrow and see if I can post it. I haven't tried to do that yet. The bag looks fine but I just had different expectations and think I would like it better if the stripes were horizontal. It is a neat bag to bring out on occasion. I wouldn't use haircalf as an every day bag and animal prints never go out of style!
Oh I’m sure. Plus I think it was a fun way to market the new version of the bag. The novelty would wear off.
OK! Here's my first attempt to post a photo. Here is the haircalf dinky I received with the stripes going the wrong way compared to the stock photo. It isn't horrible but I would prefer it to look like the photo.
Thanks for sharing! I agree it isn't horrible but if you're not going to be happy with it, back it goes! It doesn't match what they showed in the pic and I'd have also wanted it to look like the pic.
Thanks! I think I'll try again if I see it at the same price. I dont' think the online outlet does exchanges. When I called them they weren't very helpful and just told me if I wasn't happy with it I could return it. I told them I didn't say I wasn't happy with it.....I was inquiring if it was supposed to look this way since the stock photo didn't. I felt like she was just a processor....next customer, please.......
I truly don't think you are going to find one with horizontal stripes. They don't release the same style with multiple variations like that, unless you can find a pilot version.
Do you mean you'll try ordering again from the outlet it try to wait to see if the horizontal one makes it to the outlet at that price?
I think I'll give it one more shot and then either decide to keep it or forget about it.....sometimes I'm surprised and get lucky!
This one is confusing because I see it on the regular Coach site and it has the same photo and stock number. The one I have just has the "F" in front of it. I asked my sales associate and she asked around and said it was seen both ways. So I may see if she an find me a horizontal one. I don't need it that badly so I'll see what shows up on this week's outlet sale. There are plenty of other bags on my wish list!
I also asked a seller on eBay and she said the one she had was horizontal stripes. Maybe they sent the vertical stripe ones to the outlet sale?
Is there an F on the label inside the purse, or are you just talking about the price tag? They put new price tags on them when they sell them at the outlet, but they are the same bags.
