Question for you Dinkly chain strap lovers. I've always been anti-chain strap (not sure why - it's just a thing). But since receiving my TO DIE FOR Cherry Dinky Tuesday I'm suddenly seeing the appeal of the chain strap. This bag is so dainty and special that I can see where the chain would make a difference.

So the question is - do I get the $35 "plain" chain or do I make sure my next Dinky purchase includes the leather chain for $100 more? I lean toward the leather version. I think the regular chain feels "sloppy" to me and I lean toward structured...

Tell me what you love/don't love about your plain or leather chain!

Thanks as always!

I have the leather chains from my Dinky 24's (different metal finish for the black and the butterscotch). Honestly, I vastly prefer the leather strap from my regular black Dinky. I'll probably use it with the black 24 as well. I'm short-waisted and prefer being able to adjust the length of the strap. That's not possible with the metal ones.

My daughter has the plain chain and wears it with her Coach clutch to make it a crossbody. She's young and lean (5'6", 115) and the strap length is great on her. I find the leather version just a shade long, although it can be doubled to for shoulder carry as well.I don't know how tall you are, but not being able to adjust the chain can be a bit of a pain.

Thanks @Pagan. Good point on height - I'm 5'9" before shoes - in which I'm not too far off 6'. I use the 2nd to last (longest) hole on all my Dinky's.

I don't wear shoulder bags much - but I can see preferring using the chain strap vs. leather for this purpose. I tend to baby my leather so I'd prefer to double up a chain were I looking to go in that direction at times.

I'm of a similar height as you (not sure what shoes would change in terms of a strap though) and I really prefer the combined leather+chain strap. I have all 3 types (leather, chain, and combo) and I like the combo by far best. I think it makes the dinky look more elegant (maybe even more 'fancy' as opposed to casual). I'm always on these forums complaining how they don't sell those straps separately because I would get them in all types. It's also perfect for my height in all conversions, especially for carrying on the shoulder (rather than xbody) which I prefer. Leather straps are nice too though because they are adjustable and lighter. Plus they're less likely to dig into your shoulder; I haven't had this problem but I heard some complain about chain straps hurting them. Another plus of having a leather strap is that metal color may clash with a belt or jewelry and while it doesn't bother many people I get annoyed sometimes and end up having to match. But overall, I love the combo of leather and metal the best. Sorry long reply...

Oh, you're much taller than me. I'm only 5'5" with long legs. The leather/metal strap will probably be a better length for you.

This is more of a white bag question than a dinky question but my husband just bought me the chalk chain link dinky. We saw it a few months ago when we were in NYC and I loved it. But we're going into fall winter so I won't really be carrying it. Should I keep it for next spring or should I exchange it? One kink is that he bought it at Nordstroms and I think he would like to keep any switch-out I do at Nordstroms (he gets points). There isn't anything I really like as much available at Notdstroms right now.

I love the leather/metal interwoven chain. The leather keeps it from being annoying and noisy, plus it doesn't keep catching on my hair. I also think it looks nicest out of the available options.

I'm 5'2 though, and the length is just longer than I would like it to be. Sounds like you won't have that problem, though. [emoji4]

Thanks @faintlymacabre! That helps. I prefer more structure so I think I'll just make sure I get a bag with one of the leather combo straps. I'm starting to eye one of the double kisslocks which include that chain so maybe soon!

My new saddle Dinky arrived yesterday! Excited because this is my new daily driver. I forgot to take a solo pic but here's the current Dinky collection. Hoping to add the Bordeaux next but want to add another Saddle bag first. And a Bandit if they go on sale. So many bags, so little money :graucho:

My Cherry Dinky finally arrived! It's even more fabulous in person! So sparkly & pretty. This puppy will be only pulled out for just the right outfit/occasion. So in love

I just bought this beauty today, instead of waiting until next month to pick it up in Hawaii, since I'll only be saving about $13 after taxes. She is so gorgeous and I can't wait to use it! I'm definitely planning on taking her to Hawaii next month. Love!!

Isn't it the best? I pull it out of the dust cover just to admire it. Jealous you get to take her out for a trip to Hawaii of all places . Enjoy!!

Thank you! She is just so cute I couldn't resist anymore. My only complaint is that I wish the hangtag was monogrammable, I was eager to get a cute little unicorn or kiss mark stamp but Coach just had to slap their emblem on it. Haha. Oh well. I love her so much!
