Did you ever do that or it is only me?

This thread has just made me think.... I don't tell anyone what my bags cost unless really pressurised. So imagine that you have to tell someone that they can't borrow your £1000 handbag because it cost so much :giggles:

I don't share my bags unless it's like a clutch and only to family members that I trust. Now, when I'm tired of a bag, I either give them away to family or sell them. I don't believe that I've ever even asked someone can I borrow a bag. Never crossed my mind. A handbag seems so...personal.

I'm sure if my best friend thought I would let her borrow my purse she would ask but she knows better! No way! Mom won't ask since she knows my stuff is pricey. Though it would be nice to have friends that liked the pricey stuff so I could have a larger wardrobe (like my college days).

I'd only loan something to my mother & she would never ask because she doesn't like to borrow things. Besides she has nicer bags than I do. :p

I'm with remainsilly. I dislike sharing my food or my stuff. I like to give things away, but I'd never share something I truly wanted or expected to see again.

I won't share/lend my bags because I am too meticulous with them. I see how some of my family members use theirs, so no no no!!

But I'm a bit surprised that a sister of mine let me use hers. A chocolate brown Gucci Sukey in guccissima leather. It was with me for 1 year. I was not yet into TPF then so I was a little less protective of my bags, but nevertheless I think I am generally careful with them.

VintageMama can carry any of my bags, anytime.
We have an open closet program - her bags are whimsical glam-rock and mine are 90s New York Socialite. So she'll borrow mine when she's going to court, a funeral or a family reunion. I'll borrow hers for an evening or media-saturated event.

Anyone else - no. Heck no.

It's a matter of trust.

I quite agree. I feel so comfortable to share my stuff with the ones I trust. But anyone out of this circle - no, definitely no.

I lend to my mom as she is usually deciding if she wants a particular bag herself. In the past, I have either purchased one for her or buy myself a new one so she can keep it. We always do handbags as gifts for each other so it usually works out.
