I love how it changes so much depending on the lighting.

But honestly, where I was born we celebrate xmas on the 7th of January (old calendar). So maybe he was in fact very punctual. Spot on xmas eve, in fact!
Then again everyone forgets about lateness if orange boxes get involved!
I know this took a long time. But so worth the wait!
One of my 2017 bag resolutions was 'no more black bags', and this was perfectly in line with that. Perhaps DH had a telepathic moment when buying it, or maybe its just Grandfather Frost magic. Grandfather Frost - "Ded Moroz" - is a Santa-like pagan figure in that weird country I come from. We prefer him to Santa and supposedly he brings us gifts (I'm sure that's copied from Santa though, as traditionally Grandfather Frost only brought negative 30 degree weather, blizzards and death). He also has a hot girlfriend called Snegurochka, though she's originally supposed to be his daughter...sigh, do you see now why I moved to Europe?
I'm just kidding, I moved to Europe because we don't have Hermes in Siberia
Forgive the boring socks. I stole them from DH. He's the only one in my family who'd ever dare wear plain black socks.
Something escaped from the box!
I can see something colourful peeking from inside! My heart leapt when I saw a glimpse of the colour. I love red.
DH hinted it was going to be colourful, but I was honestly kind of wary it would be some glow-in-the-dark neon colour ...but I'd been dreaming about some red arm candy and here we are!
B 35. Togo leather. Gold hardware. Geranium. My first B
This photo does not quite capture the colour, which, to me, looks like a true red, but not too bright. In photos, orange and pink hues tend to predominate. Here, it even looks a little like Rose Jaipur!
I love it with the gold hardware. I think gold hardware makes any colour warmer and easier to take in. Just my personal perception of course, but I only like phw on colder tones like vert anglais, or a very light nude like tourterelle or argile.
My dream red H colour is Rouge Garance. More than the colour its probably the name - so French, and makes me think of Garance Doré, whom I absolutely adore, and her own rouge Garance Kelly story.
But this red is just as divine
When I got the box delivered, DH had had a bottle of soju (Korean alcohol) so he was very...um...happy? He did a parade with it wearing his red boxers and a sesame street cookie monster t-shirt...shame I don't have a video of this to upload...
If any of you have ever been in a black bag/neutral bag rut, you'll know how hard it is to find the courage to invest in something colourful! I got into that rut after I sold my first H bag (an epsom Kelly in Feu). Orange just wasn't working, and I realised that epsom leather is not my thing. So out the door it went. I miss it sometimes, because it was so beautiful to look at, but I was much happier with my vintage box Kelly & my so black retourne kelly.
But after a nasty first three months of pregnancy, I realised I desperately needed some colour in my closet. All the black started weighing on me. Funnily enough I'd never imagined that - I'd always thought that what makes a black bag superior is that you never get sick of it. Surprisingly, you do!
I don't think I'll be getting any other Birkins - its beautiful, but I'm a Kelly girl through and through. I have an argile Kelly on my radar and if all goes well you'll see a reveal of that one too soon
I certainly won't be selling this B though. The moment I saw it, I knew I could make it work. I didn't have that feeling with any of the many bags I ended up selling.
