Did anyone shift to LV because of the resale value?

I really dig Givenchy Pandora. You know how some bags make your heart sing? That does it for me. Same with black Bal with silver hardware.
I agree. We should really buy the things that make your heart sing. The Pandora is so versatile and edgy, I uses to avoid metal chain straps but on the mini Pandora imo it completes the look, so its the first bag that I picked because of the chain straps.

I honestly don’t buy LV or luxury goods in hope I can make a profit later on if no longer wanting it. I buy them because I want them! Period.

I agree with everyone when they say you should buy a bag (or brand) you love. But I also think about longevity and wear and tear over time. A few years ago I fell in love with the Gucci Sukey. It was so pretty and I got it with the ivory trim- a light color which I usually shy away from but I just didn’t like the darker trims. I carried the bag for a while but then started thinking about the fabric - and how my Coach fabric bags ended up looking after a few years of rotation. I ended up selling it and don’t regret it. Part of my love for LV canvas is the beauty, durability and longevity AND the fact that I can sell them in ten years or so and still recoup close to what I paid. Especially with the price increases [emoji846]

A purse never is a good investment! It loose its value at the day you buy it!

While I would say this is true for most bags, it's certainly not true for all. There are bags that can be sold with a profit on the very day they were bought, simply because they are in high demand and hard to get. There are many other bags that usually lose value short term, but if you hold on to them for a few years, you will often be able to sell them for more than what you paid at the time, because they are classics and their prices have risen significantly in the meantime.

But to me, when I consider resale value, it's never about making a profit. It's about the loss I'm prepared to accept in case I fall out of love with a bag within the first year. Unless, of course, it's a bag of which I know this will never happen, like, as mentioned before, my Chanel Reissue.

you can’t have your cake and eat it too. Although there are exceptions such as a Birkin bag. If resale value is important to you, I would suggest that over most LV bags. There are some exceptions such as LV x Supreme bags. most LV bags don’t hold their value but with yearly price increases, you will eventually be able to get your retail money back if you get bags like speedy.

Hi. I agree with you. I’ve seen LV on eBay, priced higher than the cost from LV directly. I’ve watched buyers bid on bags in terrible condition, pushing the price point above LV cost as well. But I also think you should buy what you love, and not just consider it an investment. Happy shopping

I fell in love with Louis Vuitton only 4 years ago, due to my friend opening my eyes to the world of high end. I used to only carry Coach bags and I purchased a Lancel in Paris. Until I owned my first LV, I've now become a snob and won't carry anything except LV, Gucci and would love a Chanel "investment" one day. I've purchased and sold new and used bags. It's a hard obsession to break.
