Diamond upgrade or Rolex?

Rolex, hands down. I'm thinking about getting my DF his wedding present a little earlier (and make it his bday or dating anni) because I'm so nervous about all these price increases! I feel like diamonds don't go up in price as much or as often as brand names do and rolexes retain their value better than diamonds.

I agree with others that I would wait to trade in the diamond until you can get a little more of an increase since that upgrade isn't going to be that noticeable. I think I would go with the Rolex BUT, if the diamond upgrade is really what you want more and would prefer to focus on, then I would hold off on both and wait until you can get a little larger upgrade. It depends on what you really want...

If you're planning (eventually) to get a much bigger diamond, then I wouldn't bother getting a temporary upgrade of 0.25, it's just not worth it IMO! I think your options are either......get the Rolex now and wait longer for your dream diamond, or just wait and get your dream diamond a little sooner

I vote Rolex as well. Unless you get an excellent cut diamond that is really an excellent cut, i.e. GIA , the size won't matter as much as the face up millimeter size (spread). You could be upgrading to a number, 1.5 ct vs 1.25 for example, and the 1.5 may very well be under its proper face up dimensions, showing more like a 1.35 ct for example, and you are paying for the "hidden" weight. A Rolex will never go out of style and you won't lose $ unless you sell it within a few years, or you buy from an unauthorized dealer and get burned. Diamonds are so expensive right now and the visual size on your finger shrinks really fast, and you probably will wish you got the Rolex. Good luck with your decision!

And when you do the diamond upgrade focus more on the mm spread than the carat size. see how many points larger the "new" diamond would be over the existing diamond. unless it is about .35, .50 mm you really won't see any difference.
