Whiteflash and HPD for great upgrade policy. Better than bluenile. Just spend a dollar more versus 2x. All ACA stones have light performance analysis per AGS reports. I found the Whiteflash generally has more supply and options at the larger carat sizes. HPD would require you custom cut if looking for certain higher colors above certain sizes. Even though all super ideal each diamond does speak to me differently so I would use the custom cutting option as a last resort. Victor Canera’s upgrade policy is also just one dollar more and his settings are amazing. Go to Pricescope for threads on his settings or follow on IG. He also offers super ideal stones and he doesn’t always set outside stones. Those are the only vendors I would consider. Just talk with them. They will each help you find or cut matching stones.

I have Whiteflash studs and have upgraded a few times (newest pair 3.2 ctw being set now!)! They usually have a good selection which makes finding a matched pair easier, and the diamonds are top quality!

My engagement ring (reset) was made by Victor Canera (in my avatar picture). I highly recommend him for handforged platinum jewelry, and he carries lovely diamonds, as well!

Thank you! After reading more on different types of cuts, I think I should go with ACA or Hearts on Fire.
The diamonds carried by Hearts on Fire and Whiteflash are virtually the same..top cut quality hearts and arrows diamonds. The only difference is that HoF has a huge mark-up!

Thank you for your suggestion! I've been researching High Performance Diamonds Crafted by Infinity diamonds and Whiteflash this weekend and it looks like HPD have better policies vs Whiteflash, specifically buyback and unlimited upgrade. However, I'm not sure how to assess their quality vs. ACA quality. ACA seem to have much more information on their diamonds available online. How did you decide which one to go with? How did you know whether HPD cut quality is on par with ACA?
Thanks a lot for sharing!!

While HPD does carry high quality diamonds like WF, they generally have not had the quantity that WF carries, and that means at times it would be more difficult to upgrade and find a matched pair there. HPD/CBI prices are also usually higher, and both HPD and WF now have a one year buy back policy (HPD 80% and WF 70%) because HPD just changed their policy in March to one year. But that policy is not really very relevant for studs as most people use the upgrade policy on those (and those policies are the same at both vendors).

Apologies for bringing up an old post but hoping you all can help. Looking to buy diamond studs for my birthday. I am not sure where to buy them and I am overwhelmed with options. Any advice would be appreciated. My ring is from Victor Canera but his earrings are $10k which is more than I want to spend. Looking for the following
- 1.5 TCW
- Round solitaire - 3 prong martini style (want it to sit close to the ear, don’t like side view of box studs)
-plan to sleep in them so want screw back or pousette
-platinum or white gold (which do people recommend and if white gold, 14 or 18?)
-budget is under $5k

Victor made mine, he can make any size for you! He made my ring as well, you know his quality is amazing! DH won’t even consider looking elsewhere anymore lol

I do love Victor and have a few things he made for me (including the ring in my avatar picture!). I am guessing that you were looking at higher color and clarity at 1.5 ctw and that's why you had a $10K price. The main thing to use a vendor with an upgrade policy that allows you to apply 100% of your diamond purchase price toward the next pair. My studs are from Whiteflash and I started small and upgraded a few times to my final pair. I am going to tell you that right now diamond prices are pretty high, and you will not get well cut, 1.5 ctw for under $5k unless you really go low in color or clarity. Here are a couple of WF pairs (great match) that would bring you close to $5k with the settings, etc. They are a J color VS .70 each pair and an I color VS .60 each pair.

So you could go with even smaller stones with Victor or Whiteflash if you want higher color and stay within your $5k budget.
I chose platinum for my studs, but I strongly recommend going with less expensive 14k white gold settings (not handmade) if you think you'll upgrade in size. I started out doing that, but the last couple of times I was certain I wouldn't upgrade again, got platinum settings, and then upgraded again and wasted all that money on settings! I prefer regular push backs, but I do not sleep in mine.
