Hmm... This thread has taken an interesting turn... Clarity VS Color. That could a whole new discussion.

Here I just want to express my gratitude toward the ladies who helped me with my selection process.

Thank you everyone for your opinions.

Why don't you contact Brian Gavin Diamonds or Good Old Gold. Brian Gavin is one of the best cutters. I would not spend money on an SI1 diamond. It's grey looking. I would go down no less than vs2, but would try for vs1 esp with G. Both the houses above are excellent and honest. If you want cushions, brian is known for his exceptional cuts of those and everything else.

with VS2 - SI1 diamonds what you see on the clarity charts does not reflect reality.

ive seen SI1 diamonds which have a feather off on the side of the diamond and face up it looks like a VVS stone. ive also seen VS2 diamonds which have a cloud right in the center and could easily be classified as SI1 diamonds.

the idea that SI1 diamonds are somehow inferior to VS2 diamonds is incorrect, until youve actually had the oppertunity to look at the stones under a loupe its impossible to say.

Yup!
My TB is VS2/SI1 and I'll be damned if I can tell!

Si diamonds are cloudy. I can clearly tell. I just wouldn't spend money on it.

That's your prerogative. But not all SI diamonds are cloudy, and every single diamond of any clarity grade is different. It's all contingent on the plot and cut quality. Cut quality will impact a diamonds appearance more than anything else.

Agree!!! It's like saying all blue cars are dark. . . some are light blue, some are royal blue w/ sparkles and some are navy.
There are a LOT of amazing SI1 stones - more for us :D

Luckily or unluckily, I don't have very good eyes for these. I have owned a few SI1 stones before but was never able to tell where the impurities are. They all look pretty sparkly to me. I pay a lot of attention to cut quality after being educated by the forum, thanks to Ame and other lovely members. I'm pretty happy with the purchase and won't be upgrading for a long time. I appreciate all your opinions.

Here's to all SI diamonds owners :)
