OMG, I am rude! I apologize. It's been a hectic couple of days.

I did find a very nice pair of 2 ctw studs at a mid-tier chain jewelry store after exhausting the largest mall in the city. I'm glad I didn't go any bigger. I liked that the store was part of a large established firm where I could trade up eventually if I wanted. I liked that the stones are Canadian and come from an ethically sound and sustainable source. The salesman helping me out was friendly without being too used-car-salesmanish and extremely helpful and totally willing to bend over backwards to make me happy. That means a lot to me.

They are lovely, set in a white gold classic 4 prong basket setting. There are more amazing stones out there, but for earrings I think it's a little silly to go over the top. I did go to Cartier since that is where all my diamond rings are from. Those earrings were stunning showstoppers, but 1.67 ctw was $12K. Ouch! I don't think so, not for earrings. Maybe when I make my first million.

:yahoo:Congrats On your new studs.

Just so you feel better.... A lot of that sparkle is ALL in the lighting. There are actual books and seminars at every trade show on the topic of how to light your store-- from the amount of lights to the wattage and angle to rotate the diamonds in position with the interior lighting in the showcase and what color leather holders and glass type to use. I watched a demo where they actually had three store displays that all looked wonderful but it was surprising how different the diamond rings looked in each individual showcase!
