Thanks Skyqueen! What do you think of J colour with VS2 clarity and ideal cut? I have found a pair of 1.48 carat studs with those stats but am a bit hesitant on the colour. I have an ideal cut pendant with VS2 clarity and I colour from the same vendor though and the diamond is stunning (and faces up white), so I'm not sure if J would be that different being just one colour grade lower than I? These are using the build your own studs tool and I would choose a three prong martini setting in 18k white gold.
I am only looking at ideal cut diamonds but am happy to play around a bit with clarity and colour to get the best deal size and price-wise.

Here's a pic for you. Mine are 1.24 tcw. I do have teeny earlobes.
Thanks everyone, I will definitely get the VS2/J ones if I go over the 1.40 size but am still considering the 1.30 ones as they are such a good price (compared to the 1.48 ones anyway!) and stats are good at ideal/SI/G. The only problem is that this will be an online purchase and although I have never been disappointed with the diamonds I have bought from this vendor before I feel a bit nervous about buying SI clarity studs without seeing them first, to ensure they are eye-clean. They do have a great returns policy so I guess I can always return them if I am not happy though... They also allow you to upgrade which is quite unusual here in the UK, I like the idea of that as it won't then feel such a jump in expense if I decide to go even bigger in the future!![]()
I think you should go bigger. I have a pair of 1.4ish ct round, I got them for the same reason as yours, for work and don't wanna be too snowy... Alot of times i think they are too small for everyday. I agree with the poster above, they do have "diamond shrinkage" over time. I'm thinking of adding a halo onto mine.
Oops just realized the OP has already bought her earrings
Congrats OP! Please post pics![]()
