^^Quote from this one: "Buying studs in VS2 quality is a waste of money. The SI2s are clean to the naked eye, so what’s the point in upgrading to a VS2 if you get nothing out of the upgrade?"

That guy is such a quack. I know of him, and he doesn't seem to really truly get cut, and quality, and is effectively a big shill for one online vendor.

LOL possibly. I wasn't suggesting OP should buy from him. I just find his perspectives interesting, along with the articles in the other links. :smile1:

Hello ladies!
So, I finally made a decision and ordered my diamond studs! Jeej!
After an entire day of research / driving four different Blue Nile experts crazy trough live chat / email / on the phone, I went for this pair:

Total Carat weight: 0.66
Grading report: GIA
Cut: Ideal
Colour: I
Clarity: SI2 (100% eye clean)
Depth: 60.9 and 61.2
Table: 57 and 57
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Girdle: Medium to slightly thick and thin to medium
Culet: None
Fluorescence: Medium blue

All 4 BN experts assured me that I will not be able to see a difference between this one and the most expensive pairs with the naked eye. Moreover, I am 100% sure that I will never use these diamonds as side stones for my e-ring.
Besides, if I do not like them, I can just send them back! And finally, since I went for the least expensive pair, I have more money to spent on an H clic clac to go with my love bangle! Woop woop!

Anyhow, thank you all once again for your help in picking these earrings! You are truly wonderful!

Dear God, I am really NOT good at the online ordering thing!

Like I mentioned in my previous post, I ordered the I-SI2's. But now I was reading some other threads and I noticed a remark about a diamond being eye clean at 6-8 inches vs. eye clean at 12 inches (as the diamond turned out to be).

During a live chat, the BN expert told me the same thing: eye clean is at 6-8 inches. So when I received the email, I just had a quick look at it (since I was at a party), was happy to read they were eye-clean, and didn't pay attention to it anymore later on.
But after having read the other thread here, I went through the email again and it says that the diamonds are eye clean at 15 to 18 inches!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! That seems really far away!

So now I am seriously considering changing my order in one of these two pairs:

0.62 ct – Ideal – I – VS1
Polish: ideal
Symmetry: Ideal
L/W: 1.01
Depth: 61.2 and 61.4
Table: 55
Report: AGS

Or

0.60 ct – Ideal – H – SI1
Polish: very good
Symmetry: very good
L/W: 1.01 and 1.00
Depth: 62.0 and 61.7
Table: 56
Report: GIA

Also, I have a diamond pendant from Tiffany which is about the same size as these two diamonds and I looked up the specs and it is a G/VVS2, so now I am really having second thoughts about the ones I bought!

Aaaaargghhhh!

Hmm, so I just received an email from Blue Nile at the same time you posted your thread, Ame:

"Dear Kathleen,

Thank you for your email and I understand your concern! We define eye clean as no inclusions visible through the crown (face-up) from a distance of 6-8 inches from the eye. I think that my colleague below converted this measurement to centimeters for you, as that is the unit most commonly used in Europe, but typed inches instead!"

Should I keep them or change the order anyway?

If there were two women at a party, standing next to each other and one of them was wearing the pair I ordered and the other one was wearing the I/VS1's or H/SI1's, would a non diamand expert be able to see a difference at talking distance?

Thanks! Since I'm no expert myself (clearly an understatement), I think I'll keep the ones I ordered.
They're a birthday present but my birthday isn't until October, 29 - so I still have some room left for some return hassle. :smile1:

Anyhow, I do want to apologolize for all the hassle I caused in picking these diamonds! Thank you very much. I truly highly appreciate it!!!

:flowers:
