Hmm... $12!!!! :yahoo: Or $4500...:noggin: :confused1:
Good luck with your choice.

hahahah- love that.

Saligator- how big are the sidestones you're considering? Angara.com or natural sapphire company are great places to get an estimate for how much loose sapphires would be (with the latter being more expensive because they're totally non-treated). Are you doing gold or platinum (to get a better idea of the budgetting for the stones)? I think sapphires would look gorgeous as would tanzanites or the iolites.

Would you consider 2 large gemstone side stones on a diamond bead setting?

If I can, I'd like to get between .60-.75 sidestones for the 1.54 ctw center stone.
Thanks for the links--they are really helpful. I'm hoping to do a gold band with a platinum mount--or all platinum.

What is a "diamond bead" setting? I am unfamiliar. Thanks.

If you're looking at the sizing for .6-.75 ct diamonds, you will prob end up going bigger for gemstones. A 4+ct sapphire will have about the same diameter as a 3ct diamond because of the difference in densities/mass. You might want to figure out a size in mm across so you can compare between stones more easily.

Here's an example of a bead set band- it's close to a channel setting, except without the channel. :) I think the ring would look gorgeous with the HOF center stone, 2 colored stones surrounding it, and bead setting on the rest of band.

I'm coming in a bit late on this, but I LOVE the Tiffany setting and think the HOF stone will look amazing with sapphires. Let us know what your jeweler says!

Wow. I really took my time here, but I have done it. I ended up with a straight prong 3 stone setting and chose taupe champagne diamonds (~.65 each) for the sides.

Don't have a way to post pics, but am thrilled with the result! Thanks again for everyone's suggestions.
