I'm going back to the jeweler I like the most. Several jewelers think my Marquise is too skinny and long to turn sideways. But this jeweler said it would look good. I'm so confused. He told me to bring my eternity band. Might be able to incorporate those stones in new setting. I actually think he wants to make 2 half rings out of stones from eternity. And then sandwich those around halo Marquise being center ring. I don't know how I feel about 3 rings on my finger. I will attach photos of a couple that I found.

So 2nd jeweler today showed me a cool design. I wish I took a picture. Basically it is a split shank ring. The Marquise would be set sideways. And there are 2 halos - an inner and an outer but space in between. So sideways diamond, space, halo, little more space, 2nd halo. Also In white gold. But very expensive. What do you think? Jeweler suggest if I did it, to also make the b clips at tips slightly wider for more protection.

I meant to say V clips. So all east - west. The separations between halos kind of gives floral appearance. So nothing is laying flush. But the center stone is even keel with halos. I do not want it raised. If I knock my hand, the halo gets knocked. Only way center stone can take a hit is if it is head on.

Before putting any money into a reset you should think this thru. Will you wear the ring? Or will it sit in your jewelry box. $2,000-2500 is a significant amount of money to spend if you are not going to wear the ring.

That money might be better spent on the Tiffany ring you have been posting about.

Personally, I would not put any more money into the marquise. In fact, I would sell it and put the funds towards the Tiffany

(but JMO)

good luck!

Livethelake - you are spot on and I'm listening to you! I haven't posted cause I've been thinking. I am putting ALL funds into tiffany fancy yellow soleste ring. No go on resetting marquise. Returning it to my safe at bank. Hopefully next summer I won't bring this topic up again - LOL! I'm running up to tiffany today to visit the .66 fancy intense again. I'm going to purchase the fancy yellow of similar size in a couple weeks.

Glad I could help! I think you made the right decision. It's so easy to get distracted when jewelry is involved ;)

Can't wait to see what you end up with from Tiffany's.

I love the yellow diamond Tiffany!
Why not make your marquise into bezel east-west necklace, similar to the solitaire DBTY? I think that would look great and not too expensive to have made!
Can't wait to see your new ring.......

Love this idea (and you too skyqueen :smile1: ) and I agree, the cost should be minimal meaning hundreds, not thousands. And if you have any old jewelry/scrap gold laying around you can use it to fund the bezel/chain.

Edited to add - See how easy it is to get distracted LOL
