I sold my marquise they don't hold much value these days. So I would not invest a lot in it unless you really love it or it has sentimental value. I would leave it alone.

Oh my gosh! I forgot I asked that on forum almost a year ago! Every summer when all my kids go off to overnight camp, I review my jewelry. Cause I have the time! Like I said , it is a love- hate thing with this ring. I took it to 4 jewelers and heard 4 totally different things. But 2 of them said I could halo it and it would cover the chip and prevent further damage. It would just cost $2000-$2500 to do that. They showed me another customer's halo Marquise. And it was really weird cause she walked in to pick it up while it was on my finger. I thought it was pretty blingy. But my stone is .93 and hers was 1.41. I'm going back to jeweler again tomorrow to hear all my options.

Other store says to halo it.

I would leave it alone and halo it to keep it safe. Recutting is going to cost a TON of weight.
I agree...don't touch it, you'll have no diamond weight left!
Turn your current setting in towards a new setting with a halo (hopefully it will offset the cost a bit)...I think it would look gorgeous and updated.
Not to add to the confusion but the east-west setting, with halo, is fabulous and unique.
Good luck, dearheart and keep us posted!

You're unlikely to get a lot in return for the current setting, scrap weight most likely. But it's something vs nothing.
